Re: Really cool generative sequencer, any1 know a VST like this?

Ok, not a VST, but my ex and I built this 7x5x7.5-foot LED board that outputs MIDI based on what is displayed, including a Conway Life routine.

Need to reauthorize if I replace HD?

Hi Folks,

I've been thinking of swapping out my Macbook's HDD for an SSD. If I do a straight drive clone, will I still need to reauthorize with Ableton? Has anyone had to do that for a new drive where you're not reinstalling things, just image cloning?

Thanks!

Re: Who else *RARELY* gets crashes in Live 8??

I use Ableton Live almost every day. I have had one crash (same problem with a certain set, so multiple crashes but only with that set) in the past 18 months. I think I am on 8.1 or 8.2. I'm not on that computer at the moment. I know exactly what caused that series of crashes, and it was resolved in...

Re: controlling an ipad with a launchpad....

If power is the issue, try a powered hub.

I'll try my LP with my iPad and a powered hub and see if it works.

Re: Weird and slowed-down recordings?

Yup, that was the problem. I had been trying to mix it at my other station connected to this computer but in another room using a Presonus Firebox. It was running at 48Khz, but for some reason it was playing it all funny. I went downstairs and listened on the MOTU at 48KHz and it plays just fine. If...

Re: Weird and slowed-down recordings?

I think its a S/R problem. Have u maybe clocked your audio interface to an exteran sync signal? Iiiinteresting. Yes! I have a MOTU Traveler clocked over optical ADAT from a Presonus Digimax D8. Haven't had any problems with it before, though. Half of the tracks were recorded through the D8 and half...

Weird and slowed-down recordings?

Hi All, I did a bunch of recording with a friend last week and when I went to go mix it this week to send him a mixed-down MP3, I discovered that the whole Live set sounded weird. Our voices sounded a little bit deeper and everything was a little bit slower. The BPM was 100, the BPM of all the clips...

Re: APC20 for two Macs

Hi, I have done this with a Launchpad, so instructions for the APC20 should be similar. I am at work now and don't have my setup in front of me, so this will be mostly from memory and may require some tweaking. It sounds like you've already figured out how to use Audio/Midi Setup in OSX to create a ...

Also, if you do this, you get to know how your voice changes with your throat health, and how your throat health varies with humidity, dust, etc.

Re: Opinions on quality of the instrument samples

Does anyone know if you get komplete 7, if there are ways to install only some of the software to your hard drive? You do not have to install all 90GB of samples. Although if you do, be prepared to spent some 12 hours installing it! :) I bought Komplete 7, and it's awesome. But if your main machine...

Re: How is Touchosc on a iPod?

TouchOSC is awesome. I love it to death. I started using it on the iPod Touch about a year or more ago. Then I spent the next year buying and trying almost every knobby/slidery MIDI device under the sun because I'm a contrarian and didn't want to get an iPad. Well, I finally broke down and got an iP...

Re: Opinions on quality of the instrument samples

I have been underwhelmed with most of the instrument samples and wish I had spent the money on NI's Komplete rather than upgrading to Live Suite.

Re: learning to sing

I used to think I couldn't sing. But then it turned out most of the things I was trying to sing to were slightly out of my vocal range. Learning my range, how to transpose things properly and what I could and couldn't sing along to really made a difference. So then I just started singing along to so...

Use a Maximizer. I use the W1 free VST Maximizer. It works wonderfully.

Re: Avant garde, abstract, noise, drone

on the subject of lo-fi, i spend alot of time setting up fake lo-fi in ableton. i find it is quite rewarding because there are so many ways to easily ruin your sound Definitely. One of my favorite devices I've made in Live is an effects rack that very closely emulates the sometimes randomly destruc...
