i own two Studiologic (Fatar), one VMK-188+ at home and one VMK 161+ for live. It's really rock solid, i love the touch. It's USB powered too.

it doesn't cost a fortune to heat, all is electric and electricity is not so expensive...

Montreal is a real good place to live, appartment are not so expensive, so many place you can play all kind of music...

If you are MAC ,
you can go to audio midi set up / audio devices the click + button , it creates aggregate device that you rename has you want.
Then you can select audio device that you want ect.
Next in live yoy can select in audio device your aggregate "sound card".
