I have two problems when using the 'Soundtoys' plugins (crystallizer, decapitator etc) in Ableton Live 8.

Problem 1: The devices keep adding automation against my wishes! If I'm duplicating a couple of bars of audio the first bars will have the settings I am happy with on the plugin and then when ...

I've got some sound toys stuff like the crystalizer, Echoboy etc- when I use them on a channel that's say 16 bars long, if I want to copy and paste those 16 bars, if it's something like a drum pattern etc the copied bars will have loads of automation on that I don't want, like things will be turned ...

Maybe you could give something back to the community by telling people how you went about getting the tracks signed. You just send some out on spec? You have a relationship with a label as a dj/remixer? You don't have to give your name or the label but just an honest account of how you got the ...

I totally understand what your saying and in fact I probably would have been more likely to slap a 'pro plugin' on just about anything back in the day if I had them at my disposal... I'm careful now that I use my ears and don't just apply compression/effects that aren't ...

I just went through a load of old songs I'd made on my PC using Reason 3 about 3 years ago- thinking this should be funny and hopefully a real eye opener to see how much I'd developed in that time only to find that the songs sounded far louder, bigger and seemingly better produced!

I've downloaded and installed a few of the live packs ableton have put up for free download on the website- Samplification, Solid Sounds etc and I'm having a problem actually finding the content once it's been installed. I've browsed through all the instruments- Drum Rack, Instrument Rack, Sampler ...

Can stems and samples ever sound as big as audio recorded through an interface? ie. working 'in the box' as opposed to recording in?

If you are remixing, then of course you need to use mainly samples and stems of the original track. How do you get these to sound big and not flat?

I agree with your views! I saw the thread title and thought 'oh no, not someone trying to discourage me from using samples and telling me to come up with my own sounds all the time' but I was pleased to read someone putting some pro sampling opinions out there.
