I can say with lots of confidence that in over a year of touring with laptop and guitar, the guitar crashes 100% more often than Live on the puter (once). I break strings all the @%$^& time. It's time for guitar 2.0. . .

Hey Amygdala--I've been performing with Live since September using an old G3 333 powerbook. I've only crashed it once (and I was using too many granular plugins) which is way more than I can say for my history with Reaktor. I use Live to perform with quite regularly--including several weeks of touri...

Hey. Sorry, you read me wrong. I'm not interested in rating or comparing software. I just thought maybe you didn't realize that Live's automation was actually rather good. Much better than Logic and about like protools. Well, a little different. I use Live all the time for different things, and prob...

Hey guys-- you can automate and then edit pretty much any parameter you want in Live. Like pan, volume, send levels, effect parameters, etc. And any changes/edits you make to clips will be recorded too. It sounds like you're missing something essential.

Hey there. I have experimented with this. If there was a volume envelope for each clip, this process might work better. This would allow you to have each clip set to gate and have it fade somewhat each time it is triggered. That is, if you want to work the clip triggering in a more physical way. If ...

Live definitely streams audio off the hard drive, though a small bit of the beginning of each clip resides in ram so that there will be no delays when you trigger clips (as the hd works overtime to stream all the simultaneous audio). The amount is pretty much negligible though. I would agree that it...

If you click the "Return to Arrangement" button, next to the transport controls at the top of the screen (it looks kind of like a simplified drawing of the arranger), you will begin to hear whatever audio is placed, or recorded, into the arranger. If you have clips in the arranger, this bu...

It's very easy. Double click on one of the grey triangles you see in the clip editor. It'll turn green and you'll be able to move it to help reposition the beat.

Yo Geraldo.
I discovered that if you place a marker at the last beat (the end, basically) of a clip you want to drag into the arranger, the whole thing should appear when it's dropped. Give it a shot and see if it works.

You have to set the sample trigger mode to toggle or gate (find this in the clip edit view). Check the manual for where it talks about the clip editor.

If you position the cursor over the row in the arranger where the measure numbers appear you'll see a magnifying glass icon. If you click and hold, you can scroll up to zoom out and down to zoom in. You should also notice that if you move your mouse around on the box-shaped outline that you see in t...

I don't know if this helps, but Live is not like other sequencer programs. It takes a little while to pick it up, but it becomes second nature. And, like many things, it is its own reward. It's pretty close in some regards--more like ProTools than Logic, say. There seems to be a sort of bug that mak...

Hey there. You have to put your new clips into the Arranger window by hand. They don't get recorded there; instead they get recorded on (and into) the session view. Then you can drag the clips over to the arranger (drag the clip over the arranger button on the top right of the screen) for sequencing...
