For good sound, a condenser mic or a good dynamic like the EV E20 is important. However, if you plan to record and resample live( If I understand correctly) I would recommend the realist. It does not sound real in any way but it is musical. Maybe try a dynamic like the re20 , but condensers can be m...

Zelda. Paper Mario is also great. Metroid is probably fantastic if you like that kind of stuff.(No multiplayer?? Thats strange considering its the first and best wii game in this category..)

That string sound is really cool! It does not sound realistic in any way but it is very musical! Very impressive for a synth.

Layering samples does it. also some kind of short stereo delay/reverb effect with a HP filter can do this. But the best and simplest way to make something stereo is to simply have slightly different sounds coming from the speakers.

The new Live compressor.-How does it sound?

For those of you beta testing this, how does this thing sound? How does it compare with third party plugins? Since this might actually be a reason for many to upgrade, it would be great to know.

Sounds can be very transformed just pitching them up or down. Not allways in a predictable way. Pitch the sound and then use filters to remove any frequencies or artifacts that you dont like. I made a drumkit out of a guitar string sample once, and the kick was actually one of the coolest kickdrum s...

I think it's a good idea that Ableton has made the decision to make all of these instruments/soundbanks optional. Though I think it would have been an even better idea to put those efforts into the core application instead. Ableton is unique in many ways, and should not try to compete with Logic e.t....

To furher separate and avoid phasing issues you can slightly detune the tracks to each other. For example detune channel one +5 (not semitones, use the "detune" box) and channel two -5. This will make the waves different from each other.

I suspect it has to do with the number of tracks/plugins etc. you have going. Sometimes it is a huge latency. The best thing is to record stuff in reason and record it to audio in ableton, or if you are a good keyboard player, just record it right away! Too bad you can not use envelopes and that kin...

Thanks for the feedback! I guess what you mean is that the whole thing is a bit too

I think that you have to have the improvisation element there to make live music really interresting. Not for the music nerds standing in the back, but I beleve it has an effect on the music itself-for the whole audience. The uncertainity of imrovisation gives the music an edge, which it otherwise l...

Ensoniq sq80 samples?

I moved from pc to mac not too long ago, and I really mis the sq8l vsti that emulates an ensoniq sq80. Does anybody know of anything similar sounding for the mac, or perhaps some kind of sample pack?

Better to record until you get it right, a lot of times its even faster than nudging stuff around or trying to find the exact swing or something.
