Re: Ensoniq ASR10 vs Ableton Sampler
I get all the arguments on why it would be more troublesome to work with a unit 20 years old, when we talk about storage issues, SCSI etc. But what about the actualy abilities of the ASR10? I mean, it has plenty of mod paths, and word has it that you can do pretty crazy stuff with it. I know that yo...

Ensoniq ASR10 vs Ableton Sampler
Hi all
Obviously these samplers are different. But can anyone line up some of the differences to me? I hear so much good stuff about the ASR10, and generally work better with hardware. Or is this a impossible task?

Re: Gear in the Ableton Beta picture?
Man, you guys sure know your equipment. That spring reverb is really interesting :) Does Live offer any spring reverb simulation I don't know anything about? – Alex try a PingPong delay unsynced with very short time settings (between 5 and 50ms) and feedback set to about 45-49%. Works especially we...

Re: Gear in the Ableton Beta picture?
I think under the desk is possibly an 88 key “keyboard”, something old timers used back in the day to compose music and part of a larger group known as “musical instruments”, a completely unnecessary relic of music’s antiquated past. Haha, I'm a jazz pianist, so I got the keyboard thing down :D Was...

Apogee Duet for iPad and Mac – question about MIDI
Hey guys I use my Voyager as a midi controller, but it only has regular midi outs, so I bought a USB to MIDI cable, so I could use it with my computer. My question is – will I be able to feed the Apogee Duet with the USB input of the midi converter, and use the Voyager as a controller through the Ap...

Tempest as midi controller for Drum Racks
Hey all I'd like to use my Tempest as a midi controller for the Drum Racks in Live, and save myself from buying another midi controller for the studio. But when I connect the Tempest and get midi through to Live, the pads on the Tempest does NOT correspond to a "box" of 16 pads in the Drum...

Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...
Nice. Reminds me of the time, many moons ago, when I had a Minimoog perched atop a Fender Rhodes. I ran the Rhodes into the Moog for some wonderful clangorous sounds. Looks like you're doing the same. :) Actually I am running the Tempest through the Voyager in mono. You gotta love that overdriven d...

My new humble setup. Cleaned up a bit in my previous equipment, and made this little workstation. Separated the idea process from the recording process. Works pretty good for me…

Re: Always revert to preferred audio interface when connected?
I'm chiming in here with the same problem. Getting tired of going into the prefs to select the interface when reconnecting. Should be an easy fix, ey?

Re: Atoms for Peace Synth Sound
Hey
It could sound like a basic saw/triangle pad patch, with the filter down (24dB) and the resonance way up to give it that "glassy" quality.
My 2 cents…

Re: Abandoning the computer
I did the Octatrack thing for a while, for the same reasons as the OP stated. I realised though, that it wasn't sitting in front of the computer that killed my creativity – it was using the computer FOR ALL OF IT that killed my creativity. Soft synths, composing with a midikeyboard, staring at the s...
