seems like it's not a controller, it's an audio interface. Sure, but I think the point is still valid. If I'm meant to DJ with this out of the box, I'm going to have a real hard time doing it without a crossfade. And if you're going to put volume knobs on the thing like that, why not just put a cro...

Torq seems a lot like a Traktor competitor (which is fine, just not my thing). But Conectiv looks like it is probably totally retarded. A controller for DJs needs a crossfader, minimum.

There are loads of bus-powered USB2 and FW external drives. And for DJing, USB2 and FW have far more bandwidth than you'll need, especially those with 7200RPM drives. Do you DJ with your laptop on battery power? If not, how do you resolve not tripping over your laptop power cable? Yes, there are lo...

if i'm right, using mp3's actually uses more space, because you have the mp3 plus the converted wave file in your "decoding cache" folder. therefore, if I ever use mp3's (wich I try to avoid), I convert them to waves first. The decoding cache is easily cleaned out, or you can set it to no...

Why is using an external drive any riskier than using the internal drive? :?: I've never had an internal drive fail, whereas I've definitely had external drives fail. Plus any external drive big enough to be worthwhile needs to be powered, which opens up a whole new world of possible disasters - wh...

Since I don't like the idea of playing out with an external drive (seems WAY too risky to me), storage is a big issue. I have a few wavs, from before Live allowed mp3s, but mostly I use mp3s. They're almost all at least 192kbs, with a good number substantially higher. Though I'll be honest - there's...

DJ Mixes - Jungle/Breakcore/Hiphop/Dubstep/Disco/Techno/Etc.

A buddy and I have been putting together some mixes in Live. They're pretty diverse... there's 6 of them available for download here: http://www.seriousdjs.net

BTW, if you like them, and live somewhere in the NE US, we'll be playing a few out-of-town shows in August.

I have wanted to control two things with the same knob for ages. I'm totally sick of workarounds for it (and really anything else, but that's not the point) - Live should handle this. If I try to assign a knob that's already assigned, I should get prompted to keep the original with the new assignmen...

Kind of odd DJ wish

Often I find that I want to go from one track, say at 70 bpm, to one that's at twice that - 140 bpm (this comes up a lot when mixing different styles of music, which is something I do in almost all of my sets). Now, I can take the 140 track and drop it in the set, and halftime the tempo so Live know...

Yeah, agreed - usually I'll just drop a track into a channel that's crossfaded away, and turn the cue on for that channel. But often I don't have the time to do that more than once before the currently playing track ends, so I'm kind of forced into playing something that's less than ideal.

X-Session control disconnection

I was djing with Live at a house party last night, and using my partner's MacBook Pro and an Evolution/M-Audio X-Session. We keep the crossfade mapped to the crossfade, obviously, and other knobs mapped to other effects. We keep one knob mapped to the master tempo. We started our set with that set t...

Hm - I swear I'd thought of that before. I'll have to check when I get home from work.

I'm sure you're right and I was just overlooking the obvious, though. Thanks!

master tempo envelope range

My teammate and I were doing a mix live in the studio of really low-tempo stuff (70-60 bpm), and made a mistake adjusting tempo and went back after finishing to fix it. but the envelope display for the master tempo wouldn't display anything lower than 80 bpm - we were unable to draw in a new envelop...

Virus samples for simpler

So I'm going to be totally honest here - I'm interested in some samples of an Access Virus that I can use in the simpler for basslines.

I've looked at prices for them, and for a few other things, and I really can't afford them.

Is anyone willing to help me out?
