album-a-day

http://crapart.spacebar.org/aad/ I found this project a while ago, and while most of the people who've done it are guitar-playing types (as best as I can tell, and no disrespect meant by that), I was intrigued. So I blocked off a day, had some friends over, and threw together an album in Live in 24 ...

if i'm using apple's delay audio unit, i can type in the delay time - which is where i heard the effect. on most delay's, live's included, if you turn the delay time very far down and turn the feedback up, you get a high pitched metallic kinda noise. by changing the delay time in slight increments, ...

EXTREMELY short delay effect

okay, i'm hoping someone here has seen what i'm after, it'd help me out a lot. i'm looking for a delay plugin (mac vst or au) that will do only very short delays. basically, i'm looking for a delay time between .0001 seconds and .001 seconds. most delays go up considerably higher, but since i'd like...

i'm thinking about going... depends on what else is up that night. the mikroknytes do a good set; derek morton is a buddy of mine (and he's on my album). nice drone stuff, and if you're lucky, derek will get his gameboy out.

jeez... i had forgotten all about the "import raw data" technique. now, several hours after reading this thread, i've got a pretty nice beat, and a mild headache from listening to all the white noise (i checked just about every file on my hard drive looking for good sounds)...

in DC: i'm fond of The Warehouse Next Door (http://www.warehousetheater.com/music.php). the Black Cat's backstage (http://www.blackcatdc.com/) is also nice, but they're considerably more picky about who they let perform. a fair number of experimental shows go down at 611 Florida (http://611florida.a...

there's a really clever way to do it, that someone on the forums had come up with. let me see if i remember it... on the dry track, asign the crossfade to A. on the send, assign the crossfade to B. change the setting for that send from "post" to "pre". now the crossfade should ac...

There is an event once a year called once:twice where these dudes get people like Kit Clayton, Akufen, deadbeat, Richard Chartier and other like minded folk to come down and play but other than that there is nothing else like this. and once:twice often tends to be a bit too "intellectual"...

i've had one imic die on me, and the second is probably on its way. i definitely wouldn't trust it in a live sitch. i'm pretty lazy about recording audio though, so if, let's say, i want to sample something from tv or a movie, i'll just turn the tv volume way up and record through the laptop mic - s...

i did a show recently where i made $11 for playing. $10 of that went to get my car out of the parking garage that i had to park at to play the show. at the release party for my record, i didn't make a penny - it all went to my label to recoup pressing expenses. i did get a bunch of free red bull fro...

Re: Amadeus II editor

Amadeus II from http://www.hairersoft.com/Amadeus.html It's shareware, I bought it for $30 because I liked it better than Spark and BiasLE, Amadeus supports VST & AU plugs and is handy for format conversions: Supports AIFF/AIFC/Wave/Mp3/Ogg Vorbis/QuickTime/AVI/SoundDesigner II/u-law/ AAC. I us...

versiontracker.com - look for a utility which i think is called "mp3 to wave". it'll do bulk conversion, so if you've got a bunch of mp3s to convert, it'll probably be the fastest way to do it.

i've seen that, and i've been really pleased by griffin's quality in the past... but it's a little big. i may get it anyhow - but i'm hoping for something smaller.

thanks though!

need a usb hub recommendation

so i've been using a reasonably cheap belkin hub for a while, and it's starting to crap out on me, a couple weeks before i have a gig. so i need a new one. i'd like something small, that doesn't require wall power. i've looked at the kensington pockethub mini, but i'm using a g4 ibook and i'm pretty...
