too much work. jeez. it's not like you people have to actually get up and physically do anything.

bottom line is, if you practice doing it, you'll get better at it. and if you really want to do the cool stuff that live lets you do, you'll figure out how to do it.

i never learned an instrument, though i have fairly good rhythm for drumming. i spent several years making 4-track recordings with a more skilled friend, where he'd play guitar and bass and i'd add samples or keyboard sound effects or found-object drumming. then one day i decided that i'd teach myse...

i made most of my album in the arrangement view. but lately i've been a lot more focused on live performance, so i've been writing in the session view and then recording to arrangement when i want to lay the song down. i did a remix that way recently, with a good amount of tarting up afterwards.

i bought a usb mouse when i got my ibook, and i have hardly ever used it. i thought that i would hate the trackpad, but now i'm so used to it - i'm really used to doing keyboard shortcuts, so using the trackpad keeps my fingers closer to the keyboard for that.

but that's just me.

i've always liked that live forced me to develop my own sound. in previous software i've used, it's been way too easy to use internal synths and presets and etc. and come up with tracks quickly that sound exactly like they came from that program. so i'm hesitant about the idea of any synth that woul...

as much as i understand the difficulty of adding full mp3 support, i'm definitely in favor of adding some mp3-in and -out conversion. especially since the wave editor that i had been using to do those conversions stopped working, and the one i'm using now is REALLY slow and often crashes with big fi...

i agree with that - i've always made things sound like i want them to, and haven't had any problems. but my sound is a little bit gritty, so i don't know. a couple of times i've had sound quality issues where it really affected the sound badly, or introduced some noise/distortion that was unwanted. ...

ableton has occasionally gotten back to me about problems as quickly as within the hour. they have probably the BEST support of any company i've dealt with - not just audio, either. ANY company.

i used my ekeys extensively in synthtest and bidule, and never had sticking problems. so far it's just been live 4.

is anyone having sticking problems with non-evolution keyboards?

i had a uc-16 (which is the x-session minus the crossfade) and loved it. then a friend got the x-session and quit making music, so i got it. it's nice. it serves my needs very well - 16 knobs that can do whatever i want them to, and a crossfade for when i'm feeling that. the crossfade's nice and loo...

i just use a us postal service mail crate. holds everything, i can keep it all plugged in, etc. doesn't fit on the back, but oh well. for small gigs (where it's just the laptop and no othr gear), i'll toss it in my timbuk2 courier bag.

using an evolution ekeys, i get the same problem. it seems to be that one i'm holding down more than one key, sometimes one of the notes will stick until i play it again.

although i did accidentally make a really great melody this way...
