Re: APC40 emulation and combination mode for FCB1010 & others

@UKRuss: I believe that an FCB1010 with UnO firmware is ready to receive sysex at any time, and no special pedal manipulation is required - just click "Dump" in Live and you're done. However, you might want to back up your current settings first - the Ripwerx editor is great for this kind of thing (...

APC40 emulation and combination mode for FCB1010 & others

Hey all, I've put together a MIDI remote script which allows the FCB1010 to work in combination mode with the APC40. It can also be used as a generic APC40 emulator - compatible with pretty much any MIDI controller - and the mappings are customizable. There's a new article describing the detailed wo...

Re: How to detect connected control_surface

If it's just APC40 and Launchpad you're checking for, then handle_sysex should get you there, script-wise. Otherwise, I seem to recall that there is a CS step sequencer included with the M4L examples, which only works with the APC40 and/or Launchpad - perhaps they have a hardware check in there whic...

Re: How to detect connected control_surface

Hey amounra, I don't think that Live ever really knows which, if any, control surfaces are physically connected at any one time. In order to detect a control surface, you'd need to query it, then look for a response - typically done via Universal System Exclusive Device Inquiry (and I am not convinc...

Re: Easy(?) fix for APC40 colorblind trouble

Actually, there is another way, however, it involves making minor changes to the APC40's python MIDI remote scripts. The necessary source files can be found at my blog, on the Support Files page. It is probably easiest to start with the already-customized APC40_22 script - or you could use the 8.1.3...

Re: APC40 - Note Mode, 2nd Device Control, EQ Mode & User Modes

APC40_22 revision 3a has been uploaded to my blog. Fixed bug: Encoders and sliders now automatically follow tracklist changes (i.e. slider/encoder track assignments update properly after track insertion or deletion). Thanks again to Markemark for the bug report. Best, Hanz @jbeckl: At present, the o...

Re: APC40 - Note Mode, 2nd Device Control, EQ Mode & User Modes

Hi Markemark, Thanks for the quick feedback - much appreciated. I went for a press & hold approach thinking that a deliberate action should be required to activate volume mode (i.e. to prevent accidental mode switching), but you're right that a simple toggle might be sufficient. The shift modes only...

Re: APC40 - Note Mode, 2nd Device Control, EQ Mode & User Modes

Hey all, A new revision to the APC40_22 script (revision 3) is now up at my blog, on the Support Files page. You can now press & hold the Pan button, to switch between Pan Control Mode and Volume Control Mode for the track controls (i.e. use the track encoders as volume controls). Best, Hanz PS: Let...

Re: APC40 - Note Mode, 2nd Device Control, EQ Mode & User Modes

@bobymicroby: I'll try to find time to take a look, but it would certainly help if you'd apply the Code style to the lines of code in your post (right beside the Quote button in the forum post editor), so that you don't lose the indentation. Also, what does the log file say? It should be giving you ...

Re: APC40 Note Mode

first of all thank you - the Note Mode Grid is excactly what I was looking for !! :-) second: looks I am too stupid how to use the "shifted Track Encoder modes" ... I hold shift and move one of the slider - and then? I midi map something via Abletons "String+M" command? Nope, then the "normal" volu...

Re: Apc40 and 20 in combination mode, Track Control??

Hey outersphongolia, I'd be interested to know if the APC40 combined behaviour is any different when you use the latest official APC40 scripts. My scripts are based on version 8.1.3 - I haven't gotten around to incorporating the latest fixes yet, but Ableton seems to have addressed some APC40 combin...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts

Hey all, APC40_22 revision 2 is up at my blog, on the support files page. Turns out that the new Axiom DirectLink scripts found in 8.1.5b1 hold the key to eliminating the encoder LED lag. The LEDs now update in "real time", when device parameters are being controlled by another control element (such...

Re: Note Mode for the APC40 - Python Scripts

Hi Markemark, Glad to hear the script is working on 8.1.4. Yes, the EQ cut button LEDs do display the opposite of what the EQ3 GUI appears to show. I struggled to override this behaviour this at first, but since the buttons actually function as EQ *kill* switches, it seems to make sense to have the ...

Re: Missing: important listeners in API

Only properties of Class objects are listenable from within the api, so in order to access a Python instantiated listener, that listener has to also change a property? I understand how the listener functions inside the Python script, but I haven't figured out how to modify the script so that the li...
