Re: live 9's new eq8

no, nothing personal. it's the post. people complain and complain about the complaining and complain about the complaining about the complaining. ...which is why I hardly ever come here any more ;) Thought in this case it might be a chance to provide some early feedback to the abes & who knows they...

Re: live 9's new eq8

i already watched the video but for me it looks like optional as there is a dropdwn menu. and how do you know that it is 48dB and not a 4th order filter (24dB) as the only thing you see is x4 he's trying to be clever by finding something to whine about. "look what's new!!" "that sucks!" Well you mu...

live 9's new eq8

So I hardly post here, but according to the "leaked" video * Eq8 will have a spectrum display (nice) * ...and a 48db/o cutoff (nice!) * ...but not 18, 24 and 36db (fail!) Please ableton it would be rather jolly nice if you added the options for 18, 24 and 36. I (and others I suspect) find that 48 is...

Re: is western music is better than eastern ?

While sit in an ivory tower debating which is better there are 1000s of people out there producing music that incorporates the best bits of both.

Get on it!

Re: House to go for and scale

Not sure I understand but I think your house has a C minor chord with a bass note added an octave below.

Re: Is there a hardware synth that is similar to tension?

I can vouch for Korg Prophecy, lots of fun to be had with the string model, including inharmonicity etc (though I haven't used Tension much so can't compare).

If you want polyphony, which the proph doesn't have, go look for a Z1. Same synthesis model though I hear the inbuilt presets aren't as good.

Re: any good tutorials on progressive psychedelic trance?

Oh I see, you should wait until you're so fed up with bad results that you don't want to make music any more before getting some help. Makes sense. Sorry, my bad

It sounds to me as if you don't know very much about music, if you're stuck before you've started.
So if you think the answer to those questions is "no", where would you advise the OP to start?

Re: any good tutorials on progressive psychedelic trance?

That's where online forums come in. Put up a post saying "how do you make the sound at 2:38 in this tune" along with a link to youtube. Helpful responses hopefully follow!

Re: any good tutorials on progressive psychedelic trance?

The most general answer to the question as you put it is to try imitating first. See if you can put together a copy, using your daw tools, of a tune that you like. This will teach you a lot of tricks which you can later use in your own original material. Listen to other tunes. Figure out what it is ...

Re: EQ8 & Auto Filter adding 'Colour' to live set.

That is weird - I've never had that problem (with the racks) before. Is it just this one mix that causes the problems or does it happen all the time?

If you're trying other plugs have a look at sonnox eq - very clean, my eq of choice and I have used it live without issues.

Re: EQ8 & Auto Filter adding 'Colour' to live set.

Also, if you want stability in a live set, probably safer to stick with live's plugins not VSTs. If you want a neutral sound before they are tweaked, place into a rack and use chain select to bypass the effect when controls are in neutral position.

Re: EQ8 & Auto Filter adding 'Colour' to live set.

By all means try other filters (fabfilter are nice yes) but, be aware that any eq cut *can* cause a boost in peak levels. Unless you have found a bug then this is likely what is happening. A signal usually contains multiple frequencies which sometimes add, and sometimes cancel one another. If you 'c...

Re: HARDSTYLE PRODUCING

Ha, nice to know you've come on a bit isn't it :) I think the more you learn about producing a specific genre the more you realise that similar principles apply to all other kinds of production. Having played with psytrance a lot I know what you mean about kick and basses. If I were trying to produc...
