Reliability issues - make sure you have a good backup plan.

Re: At which frequency is it normal to low-cut a lead synth?

Thinking about this when doing live improv I have found it really useful to map a high pass filter to a midi knob for each player so they can control their lows all the time as appropriate. Though you do have to trust everyone's mixing skills.

Re: At which frequency is it normal to low-cut a lead synth?

Can be anywhere from around 180hz to 1000hz depending on whether I need the sound to have some bass punch. Use a steep cut, 24db/oct say to keep things cleaner below the cut. One highpass band of eq8 is not steep enough - either stack up several bands in eq8, or use eq3 with the "L" band switched of...

Re: IS THERE A WAY YOU CAN SPLIT UP A SOUND WITH OTHER SOUNDS?

You are talking about a couple of different things I think. One is separating (unmixing) a mix of sounds, so you can process each one separately - this is mostly impossible (mostly). For your purposes though you could do something like it with EQ - ie only applying an effect (such as a mute) to the ...

Re: Pro-L Limiter questions - self mastering.

Getting stuff as loud as possible without being too loud: use your ears! Turn it up until the quality starts getting unacceptable, then turn it down a bit. Quite how loud that means is up to you. If you do the above and it's still quieter than commercial mixes that you think have acceptable quality,...

Re: Mastering&Mixing problems.

Oh one more thing. Some general guidelines I read once... Be careful not to overdo stereo anyway, whatever technique you use. Your monitors and head should form an equilateral triangle about 1m per side. The soundstage should all form a cohesive 'image' in between the monitors. It shouldn't be stret...

Re: Mastering&Mixing problems.

If you like the sound (not only on your own system but everywhere else you play it) then you're not going wrong. I think mda stereo (on "comb" settings - stay away from Haas, that's the same as what Ozone is doing with the delay) just applies complementary subtle comb filters to each channel. In oth...

Re: Mastering&Mixing problems.

And also I have questions about "phasing issues". What fishmonkey said. On top of that, if you are playing your mix on a big stereo rig, whether different frequencies cancel or sum will depend on where in the room you are standing. So each part of the room gets a different mix, and unfortunately mo...

Re: Mastering&Mixing problems.

I think the 'delay' in ozone's stereo imager just delays one channel, like a haas effect. I'd stay clear of this if I were you as it will cause phasing issues. Or if you must, then do it only for the higher freq bands and only a tiny delay. You could probably do a better job of widening with your ow...

Re: A dummy question about multiple outputs

I don't see why not. All those effect plugins might take up more CPU due to their inputs though maybe? Two simpler alternatives 1. put just one external effect plugin on there, for the auxiliary out. if you turn dry/wet to 0% does it still send 100% of the signal out? sorted then - you've got both s...
