Re: Caipirinhas

You don't actually need a shaker for Caipirinhas. They should be made straight in the glass. It's true that cane sugar is great but really hard to dissolve. Using white sugar makes your life easier and it will turn out much better if you don't have the patience to dissolve the cane sugar properly. Y...

Re: Midi ports unavailable

I tried with Midi Yoke and it won't let me input any signal from the m8u ports, giving me an error message. However, Live seems to send data to the In ports alright which is weird. I reinstalled the drivers but same as. Other weird thing: The ports of that interface I try to use in the ableton midi ...

Midi ports unavailable

Hi.
I have an M8U 8x8 midi interface which I had been using with Live ok.
However, I hooked it up again today and it appears that any input I enable turn orange and becomes unavailable.
As a result, I can't input or output anything.
Help would be greatly appreciated

Simultaneous videos from Ableton + Arkaos: Possible?

Hi. I have a live sequence of stuff with a few frozen video tracks in Ableton. At the same time, I would like to use Arkaos to trigger certain videos and effects (based on sound input). The screen on which visuals are displayed needs to be the same for both programs so that's how I'm wondering how a...

Nord Electro all the way.
I just love that thing. Have had it for 5 years now it's a killer machine.
I've tried the Roland one and it's a good board too. Good bit heavier though and not so hands on according to me

yeah but the Electro 2 has actual filters and you have more control over the effects section. Look at version 3 and there's one knob per effect instead of 2. pain in the hole cos you can't play with the dry/wet signal for instance and fade in an effect. Real pity as the reverb add-on on the 3 is dea...

problem is: 90% of decent interfaces are firewire, including my Motu MK2.

It's a real pity pc manufacturers don't address this.

I've been considering switching to mac just because of this.

Don't really feel like 3 months of trial and error/research next time I have to replace my laptop.

See that's the issue, even with a Motu, most Dell users have a lot of audio issues with their Dell.
So with most Dells, it seems you are stuck to USB2.
Firewire will work great for Hard drives, camcorders you name it, but for Sound cards, you need a Texas Instruments Firewire chipset

The Dell Thread

Hi. Is there any Dell you can currently buy that will have drivers for xp and also an OK firewire card?
As far as I know, the firewire cards chipsets on most Dells are Ricoh and produce audio glitches with Firewire sound cards.
Thanks

Those M Audio weighted keyboards are utter shite.
Completely clicky, keys take forever to come up. It's desperate.
Go for a Fatar (Studiologic) if you want something decent, or at least CME, but Fatar 88 keys won't disappoint you.
