all you have to do is trigger the clips, with global record on, and record into the arrangement.

you can choose the quantize value before you play them in, or line them up in the arrange using the mouse.
Thanks, but that won't give me the functionality outlined in my earlier posts.

Re: Triggering clips: is this possible?

Sorry but I can't figure out what u actually mean. U want C3 in ch1 to trigger a slot and simultaneously to be recorded as A MIDI note on a clip ? What i mean is this: I want to trigger clips on track A (containing one-hit chords) from my Akai MPK49, and i want to record that in the arrange view. L...

Re: Triggering clips: is this possible?

yes, the MIDI trigger is like a mapping function. A way to cancel it temporary is to deactivate and reactivate the remote in, at your piano's port. Thanks! But then is it possible to (via a workaround) achieve the functionality outlined in my original post? Via some kind of loop or converter or hac...

Re: Triggering clips: is this possible?

and to probe a bit further: I don't understand about how the midi routing works on a track related to triggering clips. If i assign a clip to a midi note on my keyboard (c3 for example), it will trigger, even if i have set the "Midi From" drop-down menu set to "No input". So it seems the midi routin...

Triggering clips: is this possible?

Here's the scenario: I've created a midi clip that triggers from my (piano) keyboard (note C3) on midi channel 2. Now, I've created another midi track and i want to record me playing C3 on midi channel 1, which will then trigger the clip on the other midi track. So i will need some kind of midi plug...

Re: Quantize clip start points to grid in arrange view?

Is this really not possible? Seems like a very basic and necessary function!

Is there a workaround? Like recording midi notes on a separate midi track (that are mapped to trigger those clips), which can be quantized later? I've tried to do this but couldn't get it to work.

Re: Advanced midi chorder?

You could record the result to the arrangement or route the MIDI to another track in session view for recording. Thanks.........i've got this working, but not quite. I've got each chord in its own clip and have assigned each one to a midi note on my keyboard. I can record my one-note chords to the ...

Re: Advanced midi chorder?

Another way to do it is to create a lot of MIDI clips containing the different chords and use the MIDI mapping function to map them to the keyboard. - Only useful if you are playing live on an external keyboard of course. Thanks for the tip! If i do this, is it not possible to record my midi keyboa...

Advanced midi chorder?

I remember in Cubase there's a pretty fancy tool that let's you map several different chords to various single keys on your keyboard (useful for triggering chords when you're no Rachmaninov!). The chord tool in Ableton seems a bit basic by comparison (only a single chord can be set). Are then any ot...

Re: Midi mapping

OK, so now i've discovered that if i DON'T select the Akai as a control surface in the midi page of the preferences, then it doesn't exhibit any of this pre-mapped (scripted?)behaviour. But it still works as a controller. Pheeeeew! Ok, on to the next problem: I've assigned knob 1 on the Akai to the ...

Re: Midi mapping

Hi guys, I'm not getting any further with this! On my Akai there is a fader labelled "F1". When i moves it, it moves the volume on track 1 in Ableton. But i don't want it to do this! How on earth do i delete this assignment?? OK, so you've told me it's a script, not a mapping. I've found this file: ...

Re: Midi mapping

Ok!

So are you saying there are two classes of mappings?! Invisible, pre-mapped ones, and the ones you can see in the mappings browser??!!
