Re: Midi mapping

Thanks for the info! If it's what i wanted, it would of course be very convenient.......but it's not what i want! Is there no way to delete an assignment, other then mapping that controller to a different parameter? Do you have any idea why these pre-chosen mappings don't show up in the midi mapping...

Midi mapping

Hi folks, I've attached my brand new Akai MPK49 to Ableton, but i'm having a hard time getting my head around this midi mapping thing. Firstly, it seems that some mappings are already assigned. So, when i turn a knob on the Akai, a knob turns on the Analog synth (for example). Well, this is all fine...

Re: How to create an "alias" midi clip?

Thanks guys!

When i was using Logic 15 years ago, it had aliases, so maybe it's something the Ableton chaps could add, would be useful?!

Not trying to knock Ableton, it really blows my mind!

How to create an "alias" midi clip?

Not sure if "alias" is the right word, but what i mean is that if i create a midi clip and then copy it 99 times, if i make a change to that original midi clip, the other 99 copies (or aliases?) will also change.

Any ideas?

Many thanks! ........ Mr D.

How reliable is the "freeze" function?

By this i mean, does it usually freeze perferctly? Or can it be buggy? And most importantly, are there any bugs or other nasties that stop or otherwise f-up unfreezing ? Just curious to hear people opinions / experiences. I want a get a feel for how complicated (CPU hit-wise) i can make my tracks an...

Re: Inserting part in song without tempo???

Thanks, i found a workaround solution. Installed ClyphX Then, naming a locator "[whatever] LOC >" will make it jump to the next locator. So i can program my breakdown as i like (with a little extra silence at the end), and can then use a locator at the end of that section to jump to the beginning of...

Re: Inserting part in song without tempo???

surely all you want to do is 1)create spacehead section 2)copy it 3)insert into the arrangement by clicking on the timeline and selecting insert in the rightclick context menu. Thanks but that doesn't seem to have my desired effect. It moves the later stuff away from the bar lines (if you paste in ...

Re: Inserting part in song without tempo???

OK, so from reading the manual it seems like the best way to achieve this would be with locators: from the manual: "Locators can also be recalled using MIDI/key mapping." But it doesn't explain how. So am i right in thinking that i could skip to a locator by triggering a midi note on a midi track? T...

Re: Inserting part in song without tempo???

a simpler method would be to push everything (up to the break end/beat start) back proportionally .. Thanks! I don't understand how you'd move the clips and also have the bar lines move!!!??? I just had a thought about a possible work-around: Is it possible to put a marker down somewhere, so that w...

Re: Drum progamming - strategies!!??

Can't agree - most dance music from way back when can't compete, regardless of how you might master it.

Just MHO of course!

Re: Drum progamming - strategies!!??

Hey Oddstep!

I can't really agree with you! I think that dance music (and electronica in general) nowadays sounds waaaaaaaay better now then it did 20 years ago. I'm not talking musically, just in terms of pure sound quality, mix and sound design-wise.

JMHO!
