Re: Inserting part in song without tempo???
Thanks! But i still don't see how to achieve the specific arrangement functionality i outlined. To reiterate: i want to program a section (break-down) without tempo. Then i want to be able to say: "this is IT! - now the beat should kick back in right here !" Then i want to be able to have a new bar ...

Re: Drum progamming - strategies!!??
and you're freezing stuff to conserve resources? Yes! you could just record the audio. I appreciate it is not perfect. Not perfect! visually comparing midi data is the road to madness. I agree, making music with your eyes is a one-way ticket to a sh*t sandwich! However it could be useful to visuall...

Thanks for the tips!3dot... wrote: *you can route the midi into the drum-rack from other midi-tracks.. and each can have it's own 'groove'...
The problem with your above suggestion is that you can't freeze anything! And you can't visually compare midi parts!

I think that would get rather messy and will make it impossible for anyone in the future to retrieve any useful information from the thread!

Inserting part in song without tempo???
Imagine this: I'm making a dance track. At the moment it's just 3 minutes of non-stop groove / beats. Suddenly i have an idea: after 30 seconds (so, at the end of bar 16) i want to go into a break down that's without any tempo or beat - just some spacey FX and vocal samples. After this goes on for (...

Drum progamming - strategies!!??
I'm trying to get my head around the best way to approach programming midi drums in Ableton. I could have all my drums in one clip on one midi track. This would be great for editing and applying global FX to all drums, but the problem with that is i wouldn't be able to apply different grooves from t...

Re: Extracting a groove - what happens exactly?
Thanks Forge. If that's how it works, then that's amazingly cool. You could have sixteen bars with subtle deviations of swing throughout, then apply that to all clips during that sixteen bars, thus having everything locked tightly together (no unwanted flaming [as in, drum flam]) while keeping your ...

Re: Panning single midi slices with reverb in the chain
Hi guys,
I'm new to Ableton!
In the above screen shot, i see lots of sends to the right of the drum rack.
I've never seen these before. How do i access this view? Is that built in to the drum rack and i need to expand the view somewhere?
Thanks! .......... Mr D.

Re: Extracting a groove - what happens exactly?
When Ableton Live extracts a groove, it basically measures how much you're off on each beat from being perfectly in time. Than when you apply it to another midi track it moves the notes the same amount that you are off in the groove. So let's say you hit a snare 2ms late at 1.2.1. If you extract th...
