Re: recommend mic & preamp please

The Shure sm57 is THE mic in top studios to get the best sound in bottom and hi mids from amps and direct micing of E-guitars, Amps and Drums. The advantage is the very good transient recording in it´s frequency range(bottom- and hi-mids). the highs are good, the low bottom too. for live I wouldn´t ...

Re: out of memory

The RAM allocation and handles are problem of the OS.
My Live is able to get i a project 3.97 GB of RAM on my Win7 64-bit system.
So please try to fix your mashine.
I think that ableton support will help you too.

Re: Which audio interface for Ableton & MacbookPro?

fireface with usb/ babyface with usb apogee duet with firewire echo audiofire with firewire maybe motu series. it depens on your need of I/Os, taste of preamp sound, standalone possibilities and at least the connectivity. greetz btw: the performance of an interface depens also on the performance of ...

Re: How to monitor with effects but not record latency.

The latency does not depend on Ableton Live. It depens on the power of your Computer AND Interface. So should buy a good interface to reduce latency. summed in/out times <= 10ms are acceptable for live system response. in the end no digital system is latency free. the often pronounced "latency free ...

Re: The ability to make midi clips louder

you can do it over a "per-clip" basis!

just enable velocity (vel) parameter of the volume in one of lives instruments and you have loudness over midi velocity.
btw you can edit nearly every parameter of an instrument/synth over midi. just edit the right "vel"-value and you have it!

Re: 5 things

1) Separate MIDI mappings for Clip View Controls for different tracks. It's currently only possible to assign one "global" mapping for all tracks. 2) More parameters mappable in Clip View Controls, such as, for instance, Grain Size and Flux (in Texture mode). 3) Follow (Cmd-F on a Mac) always on vi...

Re: Monitors

From what I remember of Genelec is that they are a bit more sharp and not so soft washen in the ups like Adam. but their most advantage is their impulse response. you are able to get the smallest level differences.

in the end your ears will decide. in most cases your money bag will hurt ;)

Re: Monitors

In advance to clear highs and mids and with your budget I would recommend
Adam A3x.
Later you can buy any solid active subwoofer and you are fine!

cheers

Re: A big shock

Hi, it seems that you do your think right. when you make music try to separate your work in "creative part" and "technical part". So you can concentrate primaly on your song, build arrangement, make new synths, rough mix it. when you say that the song has a message and is nice for a first bounce(onl...
