The more I produce, the more I realize it's really not rocket science. Just find your voice, your identity and run with it. I remember hearing Amon Tobin's Supermodified (I was just starting out myself when that came out) and wondering, "how the f***?", amazed, daunted, overwhelmed, etc, t...

Always thought Amon Tobin could be an instant Live fan and user but apparently not, as read in a recent FM interview about his upcoming album. He seems pretty adamant about sticking to what works for him. Vinyl, Mutator, Cubase, etc. That said, his next disc will be made of field recording entirely ...

MPC 500 anyone?

Dunno. Never had an MPC, only tried the ones my friends have and thought I may one day get one, love the feel and sound, and also just to try a different working method, less screen gazing and using more ears. Now this. A tiny MPC (well, not that tiny), portable, battery operated, could also be used...

I would be very curios how many pro mastering houses are using these plug-ins. Pro mastering houses do not generally use plugins, so there is no point in hoping for a fair comparison. Pro mastering houses use hardware eq's and compressors/limiters, the expensive kind we dream about, in acoustically...

Izotope plugins?

Just curious if anyone's had a go at these yet? They look interesting and have received seemingly good reviews all around. I was waiting for PSP plugs to be Intel-ready but it's taking a while, iZotope Ozone piqued my interest when recently downloading their Vinyl plugin. I will download a few demos...

That control surface pic constantly appearing in quoted replies is making me puke. jk... Yes, all points made about editing in PT are vaild, I realise the limitations of Live in that department, but again, there's always a way to adapt to new working methods. If composing the primary concern, then i...

don't know, I was considering an MPC1000 as well a few months ago but recently got an Axiom 49 and the pads serve me very well. I have loads of drum samples and thought, why bother dumping those into the MPC, mapping then, when they're already there in the computer. Of course, there is something to ...

Any ProTools users wishing they could just use Live?

I raise my hand on this one. I've used ProTools LE since the advent of the Digi001 5 years ago. At the time, I wasn't too sure of what I wanted to do, much less did I know what certain software would allow me to do and what other software would limit me to. I quickly realized that PT is great, very ...

I've been messing about with LiveCut since it was brought to my attention a few posts above, I'm loving it. I guess the trick is to just record the audio to a new track and just use the bits you need as it's hard to have good control over so many parameters. Using it on vocals as I'm tracking, havin...

Hey thanks for those!
Glitch is Windows only but I just dl'ed LiveCut, lots to chew on with that interface but it will be fun to experiment. Am I correct in assuming it's not too far off Live's Beat Repeat? How do they differ, in your opinion?

Those glitchy beats

Ok I admit it, when I listen to guys like Murcof, Aphex, Plaid et al, I often wonder how they go about getting those lush, glitchy drum sounds, sparse yet full sounding, particularly how they go about programming them. Then again, what if it's not the minute and tedious programming it appears to be,...

Thank you so much for that link!
BTW, have any of you purchased the other Camel plugs, if so, how do you rather them? That Camel Space looks rather interesting. Not too expensive, but not cheap either.

Sorry to bump this again but I'm having a rather difficult time with the Axiom 49. I'm not new to midi by any means and the only controller I've had before this was the first Oxygen 8, which I used only with Reason. Now I have pads, faders, silders, buttons and a transport on the Axiom and I'm tryin...

so far I am, a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities, not much in the way of documentation other than "for Live, use preset 17', but how do you select a preset took me a few minutes and even then. A pad triggers a drum in Impulse but a key will trigger a synth sound in operator and the same ...

I just got back home with a new Axiom 49, pretty excited to set it up now, thanks for all the comments, that was quite helpful in deciding.
