Interesting...

So in your opinion, how do all these similar apps compare to each other? What advantage does Numerology have over Soundflower and JacK, and vice-versa? Which is the most simple and intuitive way to get Reaktor and Live to play nice? Thanks!

I was wodndering about this last night as well. I was recording some live bass, going into input 5 on my Digi002R. The signal cam through nicely in Live, but only on the left channel. I went to the input buss window and deselected the 'link' button (so that from inputs 5-6, only 5 would come in), bu...

I guess I should have held back some of that enthusiasm from earlier. While Live boots much quicker now, it's appearing extremely sluggish now. Those damn spinning beachballs, any little move I make results in one of those, then I sit there like a moron waiting for 20 seconds so that my miniscule eq...

Damn, that's pretty good and yes, it does make sense. That's exactly what I was looking for, a quick 101 that the manual somehow failed to enlighten me on. If there's more on these quantizing subleties, by all means, bring em on, I appreciate it! In fact this will come in handy to have a better grip...

Quantizing question...

and it's a silly one, especially that I'm no newbie to recording in general, and for that, I apologize in advance but this little thing I often overlook could be useful if I understood it better. Here goes.... It seems there are so many quantizing selections that can be made in a given Live session....

Is it sort of like a ReWire but for non-Prop apps? Can I use it to route audio from Reaktor Session into live? I'll check out the site for more details, thanks for the info!

Thanks dogg,

I did exactly that and it took care of the problem. Not only that, but Live now loads in about 10 seconds! 8)
Also wish to point out that Alex over at Ableton was very helpful in trying to help me via email, which makes for an even greater customer experience.

Alex, you beat me to it! What strange timing - ok so yes, absolutely, as soon as I have a few minutes (I just got to work) I'll be sending you that. Thanks again!

Thanks Alex,

I guess at this time, altering the preferences is the only option. I will try that and post the results. Perhaps the other Alex would like to see the install log file?

Thanks for your replies, any more suggestions are welcome.

Live in Panther = no good!?!

Well there you have it, seems my Live 3.0.2 don't like the new cat in the house. I upgraded to Panther a few nights ago and it now takes nearly 2 minutes to load Live, then once the set is open, any little action is extremely sluggish, often the beachball from hell spins for a good 15-30 seconds (if...

I just installed Panther and the latest Live upgrade and now I'm experiencing this as well. Live takes nearly an entire minute to boot up! I have very few VST effects (only the ones that came with Computer Magazine last month), that's it. Never had that problem before in Jaguar, same effects, etc. A...

Yup, happens to me too. The attack of a kick drum will not sound, but if I wait a few seconds and preview it again, it's fine.

I was to ask the same thing, as today I found the Logic Big Box for a mere $229!!!! I'm just not sure that buying this now would entitle me to the $199 upgrade to Logic Pro next month....???

How many peeps here use Logic as their main sequencer, with the Live/Rewire option to boot? I ask because I'm seriosuly considering Logic for my Powerbook, when I can't use ProTools on the road, and all this Logic news is rather exciting.

Live quirks? - just curious...

Perhaps it's just a user error, but I never know quite what to make of this. The first thing is the automation. Sometimes I'll re-open a session I worked on just a few hours ago and some of my tracks are now muted. I'll unmute them, play the song the way I want to hear it, save, close, come back to ...
