wow, Willyum, thank you for such a great comment on both units, very helpful. I think I will just get the Axiom 49 and call it a day, and like you, I can always add the Trigger Finger later on if I feel the need to. Thanks again! :)

Portishead albums definitely stand the test of time, they still sound so good and emotionally engaging after all these years. There is rumor of a new album coming out early next year, turns out they never split up, they just took some time off, so that is good news for all the fans. Of course, there...

Axiom 49 or.......

I was considering getting a Trigger Finger this weekend, then walked into the shop to a mighty display of Axiom 49 controllers, which all of a sudden opened up new options. I love what the Axiom has to offer for the money, but would I get better flexibility by getting a separate pad controller vs. t...

External input causing white noise loop

I'm trying to record my synth into an audio track in Live and as soon as I select the inputs on my Digi002R and arm-record the track, I get a loud white noise hiss, which happens no matter what input I choose. Just by looking at the input options, all the meters show that there is constant signal pa...

The UA 610 and all of it's spinoffs has always been known to excel as a bass DI, many folks I know have at least one 610 to use mostly for direct bass recording. As for the preamp itself, it is definitely not for everyone, very dependant on the style you are after. They can get rather mushy if overu...

new iMac intel with Live?

Been a Live user for 3 years now and it's time to give the old powerbook the boot. I'm finding it increasingly frustrating to run out of cpu as instruments and processors move up the quality scale. Instead of dishing out $2k+ for a tower and more cash for a screen, I was told to look into a new 20" ...

Sonalksis is as good as it gets in terms of software eq and compressors.
Add the CQ1 and DQ1 for your final mixes and you won't believe how good things could sound.

LIVE 5 and Powerbook/OSX :: shoddy performance...

As if Live's performance wasn't already bad enough in the past on Macs (been on Live since 2.0), it seems to have gotten worse with Live 5. In the same vein as the "tired of poor performance?" thread, I wanted to start a new one cause I'm also getting quite sick of it. I absolutely love what Live co...

There's only one reason which should apply to everyone regardless of the monitor:
because I know them and my mixes translate well.

I've coaxed some wicked sounds from the Simpler presets, fat synth bass included. Hardware bound, i had a Korg MS2000 which, while not the best VA out there, had some of the best bass sounds.

Check out James Lavelle's 'Headz' compilations. While the term trip-hop stems from Portishead, Tricky and Massive Attack blew up Bristol, those comps would show you there were many lesser known artists doing interesting things. - Peshay - Grantby - Luminis - Attica Blues - Howie B - DJ Food - The Bl...
