Re: Mastering: Levels & Eq on Multiple Tracks Question

As always, Tarekith's stuff is worth a read. I'm also in the process of finishing up an album at present and working through getting everything just so, including the levels. I've done pretty much all of it within the mix itself, tweaking the levels and ensuring there's no clipping above 0db. I've u...

Re: Alcohol - New Beatkutz Track

Not normally a fan of this style but I like what you've done, the glitchy bits go together nicely and keep it pumping :)

Re: Getting new desktop computer

Looks okay to me, maybe want to clock the cpu for a bit extra. Pretty much the same spec as mine though I have a first generation i7 core processor clocked to 4.0GHz and it breezes through Live :)

Re: So it all has to be done in public now

It seems that as technology gets faster everyone's attention span ge... ooh, buscuits :D We have to remember that things like FB and Twitter and whatnot aren't real ! They are useful tools to aid in your real life, but far too many seem to substitute real life for them! I read somewhere that a chap ...

Re: Transitions/Build ups

Tons of ideas from 2be there, all worth investigating. Main thing for me though, and has been hinted upon already, is the context of the track within which you want the build. You can create an effective transition almost without need for a build if you work the before and after parts nicely. I tend...

Re: Best way to warp acoustic guitar?

If using Live to do all the warping then I'd tend to insert warp markers around the affected areas and just move those slightly. You'll want to zoom in super tight so it gives more room for minor adjustments, you don't want it perfectly quantized as it'll loose it's natural feeling. This can be done...

Re: encym: sQu'ash, new work

Nice. I must try and use other sounds for percussion more in my work, sits nicely over the flowing ambience. Guitars are a nice touch too 8)

Re: really? you buy samples?

Still I would not buy samples. There is so many that I got free already, more than I could possibly ever listen to. ^^^ This. My folder of free samples is 170GB!! Most of them I've never even heard but it's always handy to have them, and plenty have crept in, chopped up, filtered, eq'd, straight up...

Re: really? you buy samples?

Can be useful when you're learning, but there's nothing like sorting your own stuff. I've been buying Computer Music mag for years and have tons of the free ones they ish out. Have used one or two in my stuff but the main benefit I find is inspiration, they trigger ideas and open up the possibility ...
