Re: A Song A Week project

New track up for the Song a Week project: http://soundcloud.com/oelav/tracks (track 12)

There are some mix issues to iron out, but on the whole I'm pretty happy with it.

Re: Clips not launching in time.

Are you sure you're not taking quantize off globally? Or off the clip?

Re: Clips not launching in time.

To me it sounds like a problem with your quantizing, either global or clip

Re: Good cheap 88 midi keys controller , no M-Audio please.

On that note, how does M-Audio have such a reputation for quality? I have used probably 6 of their products, from audio interfaces to preamps to MIDI controllers, and every one of them has given me problems in one way or either, either in terms of not working right or offering crappy quality. How's ...

Re: 5400RPM vs. 7200RPM

I can't speak for battery drain personally (although I have heard that 7200s do drain more, but the amount varies by system), but the performance increase is huge. I plan to go with 7200s until I can afford SSDs, because the difference is just that great for me.

Re: Sliding into a bass note

So thump thump thump-slide-thump? So the pitch of the third note slides to be the pitch of the fourth note? Or so the fourth note fades in? If it's the former, then having glide/porta on and having the notes not overlap at all (except for the third, which would overlap with the fourth). If it's the ...

Re: Sliding into a bass note

Increase the attack? Turn on glide/portamento?

This is super vague - a little more info would help a lot

Re: New computer or upgrade the old one?

Dual-core or Core2Duo? Big difference in performance there.

Personally, if you've got the cash for it I would upgrade the whole bit, but if times are tight, a 7200rpm HD will give a fairly beefy boost to performance at relatively inexpensive cost.

Hey sexface,
Could you post a youtube link or something?
Heh - I thought you were being needlessly snarky with the namecalling. Then I saw the username.

FUNNIES ABOUND.

Not being a Mac user myself and knowing only a little about the whole thing, I would say go with the Intel over the G4.

That's about all I can offer. :/

Re: Assigning MIDI for stopping clip recording?

You don´t want the clip to stop, you want the recording to stop and the clip start looping, right? Just press the your play button again. The global transport play button or the one for the clip? I know the one for the clip will do it - but I am looking to assign a single MIDI control that will act...

Re: dell xps studio 1645 and launchpad issue

I don't have quite the same issue, but there is definite and frustrating lagtime between when I hit the different mode buttons and when the pads respond, and I'm on Win7 x64.

No problems at all with the APC

Re: Simple padKontrol/Ableton question

A track can only have 1 clip playing at a time. That's just how Session view works - hence needing multiple tracks. Fortunately, you can select a track and hit Ctrl+D to duplicate the whole track (clips and all), and you get a whole new, identical track that you can then play clips from. If you want...

Re: creative techno guitar efx chain

Try using the Vocoder with other synths/loops as the carrier (or as the filter part. I can never remember which way it goes).

The main riffs on this tune are a simple distorted/delayed guitar riff vocoded with a drum loop: http://soundcloud.com/oelav/tune-4-mp3

Pretty neato in my opinion.
