Live not shutting down completely?

So recently (within the past week or so) Live 8.1 has been staying resident in memory even after I close it. I'm running Win7 Home Premium x64. The screen unpaints completely such that there is no visual indicator that Live's still there, but if I open up Task Manager, it's still there, and if I try...

A Song A Week project

Hi all - For the past few months I've been working on an ongoing project to put together a track a week. I put together a tune over the course of the week and upload it Sunday night, in whatever form it's in. All the songs are available on my Soundcloud page here: http://soundcloud.com/oelav/tracks ...

Re: So, how stable is Live 8 running on your intel i7-860?

I've got an i7-860 running Windows 7 64 home premium in my desktop and an i7-720m in my laptop running 64-bit Ultimate. Going on 6months with the desktop and about 2 with the laptop, and Live's stable as ever. Only thing that ends up crashing it is Guitar Rig 4, but I'm pretty sure that's just a plu...

Re: Making beats: Getting started with Ableton + APC40 + LPK25

I don't understand what you mean 'switch it between a MIDI controller and drum machine' - how will you be making beats? If you're going to be using drum racks, there's no reason you can't use the LPK as a MIDI controller to trigger drum samples and use it to play other instruments just by changing t...

Re: Auto launch just recorded clips.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about recording new clips into blank slots, rather than recording into an existing clip.

Something like a "default clip length" setting or some such would be ideal

Re: Auto launch just recorded clips.

In a similar vein, is there a way to set up a slot to be a given length (say 2 bars), so that when I trigger it, it will automatically start looping at the end of the 2 bars? I know it would work with overdub, but if I'm recording audio (i.e. a guitar riff) I want it to cut off at the end of the 2nd...

Re: Best guitar amp for 500?

The Blues Jr is great for cranking up and driving the tubes, but depending on how big the venues you'll be playing are, it might be a little on the quiet side (and granted it'll be going through the PA, but if you like using your amp as a 'monitor', it can easily get lost in the mix.) Fenders can be...

Re: Pretty Lights!(6 albums free-all dope!)

I got into him a couple of months ago, and he totally floored me. I am absolutely captivated by his records - every track is lush without being too busy and it just has so much going for it. So naturally, I was absolutely stoked to see him playing in town. Bought a ticket to the sold out show outsid...

Best time to upgrade?

A buddy of mine's been using the Lite version of Ableton that came with his padKontrol and was looking at upgrading. He asked if now was a good time to upgrade to 8, or if he should wait until 9 is released. I realized I had no idea what to tell him. So would now be a good time for him to upgrade to...

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions

I've seen a few videos and screenshots from people using APCs where they have a blue box around their tracks in the Session view rather than a red one.

Is that configurable somehow?

Re: Recommended effects for direct guitar input

I imagine the onboard EQ, compressor, overdrive and delay would be enough to make your tone a little nicer than direct-in'ing it. Also, (and this is sort of a different way of doing it from what you're probably looking for), using pedals before the actual signal goes into Ableton would be a possibil...

Re: Mousless control of dropping samples into drum rack

Similarly, I am interested in being able to drag and drop a recording from Looper into a given slot on a track (so I could record a looping guitar part, and then play on top of it, etc.)

Any info would be very appreciated. :D

Delete list of recently opened sets?

Anybody know of a way to clear out the list of recently opened sets from the File menu in Live (short of opening 20 dummy sets)? On my desktop PC I have a few sets that I had saved to my laptop, only I have now replaced the HD on said laptop and the shortcuts no longer exist. This means a 30-second ...

Re: Live install takes an INSANE FUCKING amount of time!!!

Trolls suck.

That said, I hate how long it takes the Live install to unpack the libraries. I have the luxury of being able to leave them unattended for the most part though.
