Re: General PC Advice - Drive Partitions

Just to reiterate what everyone else has said, keep Windows 7. I have Win7x64 on my desktop and 1 laptop and x86 on another laptop, and I have had fewer crashes and better performance on them than I ever had on XP. Not to mention how much nicer the UI is than XP. Vista absolutely blew in terms of pe...

Rescan MIDI devices with Live running?

On a Win7x64 system, is there a way to rescan your MIDI devices with Live 8 running, or is the only way to get it to recognize them to completely close and restart Live?

Re: collect all and save

My workflow when moving between my Win7 desktop and laptop is just to save the file via the Homegroup onto the remote machine, then Collect All + Save from Ableton (assuming that all necessary folders are network-shared).

Everything gets popped over, and I'm good to go.

Re: Ok seriously, APC40 or Launchpad?

Yeah - the more I'm playing with the LP, the more I'm realizing that for as ostensibly similar as they are, the APC and LP are two totally different beasts. If I had to choose one or the other I'd go with the APC, just because it does more of what I want to do with a single controller, but I am extr...

Re: Beat Identify in ableton?

I know it's not really what you're after, but have you looked into using the looper function in Live? Depending on what you're doing/what your setup is like, you could use a MIDI controller/footpedal to control the looping and tap a tempo, then record into the looper and use that in real time in Liv...

Re: Ok seriously, APC40 or Launchpad?

I've had the APC for about a month and got the LP yesterday, and between the two, the APC's workflow is SO much quicker and more responsive than the LP that it's kind of hard to compare. I'm happy to have both, because the APC having 5 scenes is just slightly too few to be ideal, but the LP's non-cl...

Re: Sonitus VSTs in Live 8?

Yep, it's the suite that comes bundled with Sonar.
Some kind of way, the ones that come with Sonar only work in Sonar.
That's what I'd have thought, except I've gotten them to work just fine in Fruity Loops 9 of all things, so I don't think that's the case.

Only problem with keeping Avast during a set is you'll probably get interrupted with a random "Your virus database has been updated!" in the middle of shit.

Sonitus VSTs in Live 8?

Anybody know why the Sonitus VSTs included in Sonar 8 Prod. won't show up in my vst folder in Live 8?

No matter what I do I can't get it to recognize them. Never had a problem finding them in any other DAWs.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: apc40 or monome

It seems to me that the difference comes down to out-of-the-box functionality vs. the flexibility and granularity of customizability you want. An APC/Launchpad is going to work as soon as you plug it in (or after you install drivers), and be already mapped to the respective functions in Live (clip l...
