Not good for live theatre so you need to get a solution pronto. Im not to knowledgeable on this type of stuff probably because I rarely experience these drop out problems unless im working on a heavy track and vst count. I think the question is a to vague for worthy responses? I dont have a clue what FX box you are comparing with. Maybe a comparison which you can describe would be more useful or try and describe what it is your looking for or wish to achieve.

The problem with doing it the way you suggest is the amount of variables that can go wrong, nullifying the test.
