Re: Incredibly frustrated..
OP i was in your same boat for a while. like a couple years. but now i'm starting to get it, and it's waaay more fun and exciting. Stick with it, be patient, and consider it the same thing as learning to play guitar, or piano. It will take some time to get proficient with this program. The important...

Re: Live Bass processing
When using an amp sim I just use the eq on the amp, then slap a compressor on the chain and then eq .. so yep. Real bass (not synths) can be almost as tricky as vocals, But with this method you pretty much will get the sound you want. Thanks for the tips. I'm excited that I might actually like my b...

Re: Drums 128 - How to isolate best fits?
I use the same kit. 8 cells each with a sampler and fx rack Each sampler has like 3-5 samples instead of 128. I try to think of it like a drum kit instead of endless possibilities. Personally I just get more music made that way. I use a default Live set I made, it has everything I "need" to make th...

Something like this? http://i.imgur.com/gvhO1.png Def an improvement. Thanks for the tip. :? 8O :!: the previous poster is suggestion you get an amp sim, he's not suggesting to fiddle with eq settings. eq'ing a dry electric bass signal is probably not going to do much. your bass still wont fit in a...

Re: Drums 128 - How to isolate best fits?
I used to use gobs of samples to choose from in this 128's type of fashion. Over a few years I stopped doing this, I spent far too much time "selecting" and not choosing to commit. I realized I keep going to the same 5 snare sounds. Those 5 snares, can be manipulated by EQing and FX to fit into any...

Live Bass processing
anyone here record live bass and guitar on their tracks? I play Fender Jazz Bass, that goes into a Mackie 1402 VLZ mixer, then into a M-Audio Firewire 410 interface. I've tried many different Eq'ing, filtering, compression, but I just can't get a good sound out of it. Sounds flat and dull. Anyone ha...

having trouble mapping parameters in 128's
Forgive me if i'm overlooking something blatantly obvious, but here's what i'm trying to do. I made an FX rack for Vengeance bonus FX, made a 128 rack so I can scroll through the samples using a knob on my triggerfinger. I mapped Macro 1 to control the chain selector to do this. Now, I want to map L...

Re: Hip-hop/instrumental workflow?
Upright, that's a great track man. i have a few tracks and some dj mixes at my page: soundcloud.com/derekrusso i'm just getting to the point of finishing tracks in Ableton, I'm not really feeling a lot of the stuff I'm doing....I have a ways to go and much to learn. Learning workflow tricks from fol...

Re: Midi Slices to Individual Audio Clips?
Yes, right click on the audio (with warp markers in place), choose Slice to MIDI track, and then Live will create a Drum Rack with each of the pieces sliced to their own MIDI Clip

question about Drum Machines Live pack...
okay - question about the free Drum Machines live pack that Ableton gives for free. it's old analog drum machines all in their own racks, with parameters mapped to the macros for tweaking, etc. if you don't know - check here: http://www.ableton.com/drum-machines anyways - my question is - and let me...

Certified Trainer?
hey peeps - thinking about becoming an Ableton certified trainer, and i'm wondering what sort of opportunities are out there for those who are already certified. Do you get more freelance work because of your "certified" status? And what type of jobs are you seeing - private lessons? sound design pr...

Re: Novation Impulse 49 + Automap 4 (Faders Buttons Keystrokes)
so automap is used only for plug ins. to map/control ableton instrument or effect parameters you have to turn automap off.
not sure if this helps but it has been an issue for some people.
