Re: Propellerhead's Record vers. recording with Live

If you own Record then great, but if you already own Live then why spend more cash? I record instruments in Live all the time without issue. Plus, 3rd party plug-in support matters to me. I'm more than happy with Live and its quality for recording instruments. Record gives you that SSL desk type mix...

Re: Nosaj Thing on the MPD... Well I think it's cool

I like his stuff loads. My kind of chilled musics. As for the controllerism, I'm going to throw it out there and say he's controlling Ableton. The buttons switch him between fx control and session view clip launches, that seemed to be work for me when you watch what he's doing. Not sure I get the an...

I think you're on the right lines with one, but you also need a parallel dry track, then mix the wet FX line and the dry to taste.

A strange way to behave, but in my experience, you do get a lot of aggro from stoners who think they're actually being chilled....wonder if there is a connection there.

Re: And another new Pretty Lights out (free as always)

I agree with your general review. I'm not liking this new EP as much as the previous EP and nowhere near as much as 'Passing Behind...' which I think of as his peak moment.

Something has got to give....it is all a little too obvious now.

Defintely not. Cassette was a disaster, albeit a convenient and portable one, and I praised the day when CD came along. Now I'm digital through and through thanks.

Re: Trying to get a funky breakbeat bassline

Assign a tempo synced LFO to the filter cutoff. Your vid has the bass wobble happening at 1/16ths, set the LFO to 1/16 tempo synced and make sure 'retrigger' is on so the LFO starts it's cycle every time a bass note is played. Although I found freeing the LFO from the tempo syncing for this a little...

Re: new electro-guitar tune: Folds (featuring ghosts!)

Lovely. I like the track, nicely atmospheric. The mix also sounded fine to me, perhaps a tad more EQing on the drums? The snare a touch snappier and a bit more crack in the transfer from the reverse cymbal to the downbeat, but other than those minor niggles. I liked it alot!

Yes. Very engaging. I like your site presentation too, very straight forward but the music is complex and immersive. Very nicely done.

Very nicely done, stays very true to the the original. Its a shame theres no vox, would be nice too get them done. maybe a twist to 'personalise' your cover too?

We just get the 'Visit the Isle of Man' adverts instead of the 'Visit Northern Ireland' adverts...all gets swept under the carpet 'til next year.
