Do you mean you have your compressor settings different for the quiet bits to the louder bits Neuronaut? I wasn't quite sure I followed you. "Make it slam" - that means you compress more at these points, yeah?

I Love it.

Direct descendents from Slap Happy and Henry Cow, you guys. (Aphex, SPusher, GGoon etc). I reckon.

I love the joy in your music!

Thank you.

Fabulous.

Thankn you for those instructions, Skeptik. I will try Jack Tools at some point. The prospect of being able to use VSTs in both apps is good.

What's wrong with rewire? It works very nicely with Live/Logic in OSX. At least, it does on my computer. I'm running Mac OS 10.2.6. I've had success with Logic Platinum 6.1 and Live 2.1.1 And I'm currently running Logic 6.3.1 and Live 3.0.2 with success. Some combinations didn't work, however. But b...

Logic Pro 6

For those of you that don't know, Emagic are about to release Logic Pro 6. This gives a considerable saving on previous versions of Logic. With Logic Pro 6 you get all the Logic extras - EXS24, ES1, ES2, EVOC20, EVP88, EVB83, EVD6, and Space Designer (the new convolution reverb) for £699. The previo...

Live doesn't sequence MIDI. The MIDI in Live is for controlling Live's soft faders with hardware faders, and sycing Live to other programs, eg with MIDI clock. You need to run Live via rewire, with a program that does sequence MIDI. It may rewire with ProTools, but I've never tried this. I rewire Li...

I've just downloaded Plogue it and started to try it out. It doesn't seem to have a sequencer you can record into, like in Reason or other DAWs. Does this mean you have to play Trilogy (for example) in real time and put Live into record? Or have I missed something here?

Sorry for misinforming you. I didn't know you could do that. I just checked Plogue Bidule's website and it looks really interesting. I'll download the Beta tomorrow. Perhaps you could say a bit more about it...

They only work as VSTs, AUs, MAS and RTAs plug ins so you need a full blown DAW like Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer or ProTools. They don't work standalone.

Well if it does what you need then you made the right choice. I was just talking about if you were going to use it for doing serious work with Live, which can start to eat into the processing on a Mac, once you've got a few Grain Delays going. Perhaps saying "don't waste your money" was a liitle str...

Yeah, these'd be no good for any serious work with Live. Only a couple of hundred quid more'll buy an iBook G3 800 on eBay. Don't waste your money on a Pismo...

Ability to restrict horizontal movement, drawing envelopes.

Ability to restrict horizontal movement, drawing envelopes. Other DAWs allow this - usually with the shift key whilst editing automation envelopes/nodes etc For example, editing volume drops (Shamen style gating) precisely on 1/32ths is both fiddly and frustrating without this facility as the cursor...

Newly drawn clip envelopes slow to take effect.

Just trying out Dave Hill's Trick: "The mad professor's Groovebox" and I notice that in session view, newly drawn clip envelopes take several passes to have an audible effect - whereas in Arrange view it's instant. Anyone else with this problem? Tim G4 1.25 dual Mac OS 10.2.6 Ableton Live 3.0.2 1 Gh...
