Dr., that 2nd suggestion was fabulous and works well for me. I realize now that I saw it before, in the "motherbrain setup" described in these forums by motherbrain5000 .... I just forgot it in the month I spent away from Ableton Live. So much to learn, but with a forum peopled with helpful folks li...

I appreciate the tip, but in reality, changing the guage of one's srtings would require a brand new set up of one's guitar (action, intonation, etc)...sounds like a lot of work just to get a bass tone for practice music. I agree, but then I didn't know that was the only reason you wanted bass. Mayb...

I´d try to get a pitch-to-midi plugin, then use the resulting midi file to drive a synth bass. You might be able to do this live.... Dunno though, don´t play guitar and have never tried it. I'd be surprised if that worked well, or even using a guitar synth, but you'd probably get closest with reall...

Thanks, Mac. You might be right. I'm hoping to get at least 3 scenes going, but I hesitate to give up 3 switches on my 1010 just to fire them. I might find another way, if I keep probing....

btw, I just tried both the exciter ideas, in general: doing it to the highs, and doing it to the lows. WOW. I thnk the stereo spread in the Reverb is a big part of what makes it seem to come alive, but the sound that's mixed in is subtle. WOW.

Thanks, now I know what you mean by gain. Appreciate that.

Still not sure what you mean by "default settings". I notice that if I drag the Saturator folder onto a track, instead of one of the presets in it, it plunks a Saturator down. Is that the default Saturator? I'm guessing here.

set the saturator to hard but don't touch the gain...
Gain? Which one's the gain? Drive, Base, or Depth?

What saturator do you start with? Is there a plain saturator? I only see saturator effects presets with names like "A Bit Warmer" and "Crew Cut" ....

We're making gradual progress, but we still aren't there yet -- Kid Beyond does his stuff hands free, and so far, this thread hasn't got us hands-free yet. I found that Live will let me assign a footswitch to 'next scene' and 'prev scene', but that hasn't helped yet, because all that does is move Li...

arming multiple tracks isn't ideal, because they are all being monitored at once, so the sound you put in is, say, 3X replicated by 3 tracks that you've got armed. That overdrives the output on my Mac, and besides that, it's too loud. When you get your loop going, it's quieter than the first go that...

I found that, yep, one foot stomp would stop recording and it would start looping ....

Yeah, there should be a forum for off-topic stuff but a different one for Ableton-related stuff.

Unless you're willing to change strings on the guitar [in which case, a wound G will help with that one a bit, and heavier rounds overall might help]:

Play like a bassist.

Use your thumb and finger to pick near the neck pickup.
