Yeah, I wanted that stuff, too, esp. the manual. I thought the manual to 5 was excellent. I'm new enough to Live that I'd like a good manual by my side ... One of my favorite things about the Live manual was the cover flap -- great for marking a section I might go back quickly a few times while I'm ...

Funny you should mention buggy...

I downloaded the upgrade, but I didn't want to install it until I knew for sure it wouldn't replace 5. I'm new to Ableton Live, so it might be fine.

Will 5 be safe and untouched if I install 6?

What I don't know is: anything about Sampler in Ableton Live. So seeing the arguments in favor of Sampler is educational for me. Bring it on!

Hey, I hear that reason ($500) comes with a sampler! 2 samplers, in fact. One has loads of features, like the aforementioned velocity and key ranges for filters, and can hold multiple samples in it, which you can split or mix pretty much any way you want. The other is the earlier sampler, useful fo...

btw, mooncaine, what the hell's going on with that chick in your sig? I can't figure it out. Is she waterskiing? or laying on the beach and suddenly got terrified by something? It's driving me nuts. wha' happened?... It looks like someone snapped a pic of of a somewhat famous person, and it looks t...

Mine shows the free upgrade to 6, but nothing about the $120 upgrade for the box with EIC, which is what I want. :?: I think that's what I wanted, too, but I didn't realize it would cost $120. I bought Live 5 earlier in the summer, in time be eligible for the free upgrade. I'm downloading that, but...

I'd be interested in this, too. I use Reason and I'm new to Ableton Live.

Aha, just what I was thinking, but didn't have the experience with laptops on stage to back it up. I was wondering if you could leave the Prefs open and hook up quickly -- sounds like you can. Good plan. If it's worked for you on stage, that's what counts.

Yes i think is the same. If you don't play games or you don't make videos, then a macbook is the way to go. Dunno, that assumes the next program you'll want to use won't need those fancy graphics in the MBP. Live looks pretty light, in terms of its load on the graphics processing [but what do I know...

A band I just learned about a few days ago. Search that phrase on the web, or tack a .com on the end and you'll get their web page. I don't know how serious these people are, but I do think it's funny. Like a band for the Man Show. It can't be a coincidence that one of the members looks a lot like B...

:D I built that pic from another fellow 'weirdo' on this forum. Finally, someone commented on it! These things are like bumper stickers. I think it's about time I took that one down, but thanks for the 'weirdo' vote. LOL.

I expect the upgrade to be free, because those are the terms that were presented to me by Ableton's website when I bought 5: free upgrade to 6 when it's released. I only started using Reason in late July 2006.

What's the $20 for?

Since I'm a guitarist, not a keyboard player, I find it more comfortable to play percussion, trigger sample hits, or trigger the hold function on my guitar synth by whacking a pad than by playing a key. All those white keys look exactly the same to me. I never know which one to hit. The pad's easier...

you should see literally 10x the performance you are getting now with an intel mbp. Of course, that will mean nothing to you unless you actually have a use for the extra power. More tracks, more effects, for example. Otherwise, your track will still pretty much play at the same BPM and audio qualit...

Sounds like adonis has a fever, and the only prescription is more White Cowbell Oklahoma.
