Oh, I think you should use some samples of Billy Bob Thornton from Sling Blade, like where he says "Reckon what you got in there what's good to eat?" or "I aim to kill ye."

Re: As another DnD geek...

.. that is friggin AWESOME. Heh. I can imagine ripping some SFX from LOTR (Orc battle chants, armor klangs, Gandalf warding the Balrog), Time Bandits... MoonCaine loves him some Time Bandits. Yeah, I think this might be the geekiest use of Live I've seen yet, but wear it with pride. Very imaginativ...

Oh, another reason to thank you for the skins: I use a Mac, so the editor wouldn't have helped me anyway. Thanks so much for making a range of skins to share. I checked out a few, and I find Business Blue is my fave, so far. Good, clear, legible ... but I wonder why Live shows the MIDI enable record...

Thanks for sharing those skins. All I really want from a skin is light background and dark markings, esp. where text or numbers are, and on the buttons. The few skins I have found [before yours] that offer a nice, legible background for text suffer from the hidden record button syndrome: you can't t...

It's a good question, and I'd like to see if you find an answer or two that will help. Personally, I suspect you've just encountered one of the problems associated with using a personal computer as a musical instrument, but it's too early to tell. Lots of people are doing it, so either they are livi...

Ryan...you've sold me on using Live/Guitar as a match made in heaven. Now would you be able to...pretty, pretty please, post a vid/tutorial of this method. If not Ryan, would anybody else be willing to post a vid or graphic description of how this works (a la Romper Room style). Thanks. Dunno what ...

Let me put this in step by step terms, to see if I understand you right:

1. Stomp MIDI pedal to start recording
2. Stomp again to quit recording
3. Stomp again to trigger loop

Is that right?

Think I found it -- it seems that Live happily allows me to map a MIDI CC # 104 to a clip's record/play button, no matter what CC value I send. What it won't do is *anything* unless that value happens to be greater than 63.

Live clips only triggered by MIDI CC values 64 and above

[deleted orig. questions] I just learned that Live responds to a MIDI CC [example, MIDI CC# 104], when mapped to trigger a clip, only if I send a CC value of 64 or greater. If I program my MIDI pedal to send MIDI CC#104, value 63, Live ignores it when #104 is mapped to trigger a clip. Sheesh, I wast...

Tonight's my first chance to try emulating your example. I find that Live won't do anything when I trigger one of the clips. When I'm in MIDI Map mode, it sees the footswitch's MIDI msg [and I confirm with MIDI Monitor that it is sending it], but in Ableton Live, nothing is happening. I need to trou...

Re: Wonder how it would suit a guitar synthesist?

The SH-201 is very much a "real" synth and should be thought of as much more then an external sound module.... I just wanted to stress that it is a very powerful, fully capable synth and will be in the studios and sharing the stage with many a quality artist. I don't work for Roland, by the way...!...

Maybe 'transitions' would suit the Live style

I do lots of video editing with Final Cut Pro. It has drop-in transitions; you can make your own or use an existing one, and there's a default one, too: the cross-dissolve. That's exactly what cross-fade is, except for video. Any transition that makes sense for 2 adjacent tracks works in that contex...

And now, lets take quick a look at a poll of what Live users use Live for http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=42406&highlight= Flawed poll; also out of date. Main flaw: doesn't have enough options. Not one describes what a good number of us use Live for [enough that you can find more than ...
