OK, so I think I found the problem. It's the fact that the track was set to AUTO for monitoring. When I switched it to OFF, it started playing on the 1 as expected.

As far as I know, you'll need to bounce the tracks down to audio stems. I'm not aware of any way to save the Live Set to a backwards compatible format.
