Re: I really just want to thank Tom Cosm

Definitely... I must have learnt more from Tom Cosm than from anybody or anywhere else.

Thanks Tom!

Re: APC 20 and shift button keeps freezing

Something I did, albeit stupidly, was to unknowingly midimap the shift button on my APC20 (I didn't know it was possible to map the shift!). I thought the faders had locked on volume! It took me a while to figure it out and it drove me crazy for about two hours! (make sure you've changed the APC to ...

Re: Questions from a Noob

If you're going to run Live on a laptop I'd recommend having a laptop dedicated to Live and optimised for audio production (e.g. no wifi, no unnecessary programs, etc.).

And, without getting into the PC vs Mac thing (I can't speak for Mac), Windows XP seems to be the best PC option.

Re: Renaming Multis

Aha...
According to the manual "Hot-Swap and renaming are disabled for a Multi pad, [...]."
Seems there's nothing you can do, unfortunately!
Sorry about that!

Re: Renaming Multis

If you mean renaming each square in a drum rack, all you need to do is click on the square you want to change the name of and hit Ctrl + R (command + R on a Mac, I believe) and you can rename that square.
And that is all :D

Re: Noob question regarding importing

I don't want to sound condescending or anything, but I would take the time to sit down and read the manual. When I first started using Live I had a million and one questions and constantly googled them only to find that the answer was in the manual, explained in plain and simple terms. After a while...

Re: How do I stop feedback when recording audio?

I had the exact same problem and it turned out the laptop's mic was causing it. Go to control panel>sound and make sure the mic's turned off, or down to zero.
Worked for me!

Don't do this on the APC20!

Just to let anyone else know what not to do.... I was stupid enough to accidentally midi-map the SHIFT button on my APC20 without knowing it. It took a couple of hours to figure out why the SHIFT button wasn't working (but only for that particular set!). This is what I did... I went into midi-map mo...

Re: My God - I am going to go mad . . .

This is a common problem caused by the laptop power supply you either need a power supply that is double insulated or use a ground loop isolator or DI box between the audio interface and your monitors. This is a big problem I have in band practices, where I use Live just for samples in a live band....

How to avoid dropouts when using the laptop?

When I use my PC to write tunes I have no problems, lots of power, lots of RAM, etc, but when I transfer the liveset to my laptop I get random dropouts, only for a fraction of a second but enough to be noticeable, even though the CPU meter in Live never goes over 30%. This of course buggers up the t...

Re: How to load .wav samples in Ableton 8?

Also, when you save a set, choose "collect all and save" from the menu and all the samples you've used are copied into that set's folder.
