Re: Proper PDC for Automation

And another year is over and this very annoying bug that is blocking me from using live is still not fixed. If i read the beta test discussion of live9, its even not fixed in there. I really feel being ass kicked by ableton. It cannot be that this company is not willing to fix those bugs. Instead of...

Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

I still think that it is NOT too difficult to implement proper automation delay compensation and metering sync. My assumtion is that the audio pdc algorithm in live (which is working nice) is calculating the delay of the plugins in a chain and is summarizing it up correctly. So live could store the ...

also a showstopper for me.

Re: Proper PDC for Automation

I still have a big issue with this bug, too. Yes, ableton is not alone here, but I don't compare live with the "bad" competitors, but with the usable ones, and they actually do it very well. It is still very annoying and there hasn't been any little progress since a whole year now. As soon as I reac...

Re: automation timing accuracy

In the past the response from Ableton has been that there is a choice to be made between recording/automation timing being tied to what you see or what you hear. For example, if you are recording a knob tweak into the arrange view, should the automation be based on what you actually heard during th...

Re: live out of sync when using 3rd party plugins

And a last thought to 3.): Automation for chained plugins and mixer channels obviously cannot be timebased on the instrument which is creating the sound, so my assumption here was not correct. But it is definitely not impossible: You seem to know the delay that each single instrument / fx / plugin i...

You think that flattening 'removes' the delay? Well I suppose it does if what Laura says is correct. But how does it do that? By compensating for it.
PDC is adding delay on tracks that are too fast (aligning them to the maximum delay you have in your set). PDC can never remove delay.

Re: automation timing accuracy

I just think that flattening removes the delay from the plugins completely. So it's not that the delay compensation is working, but that you are happy having a track with a zero latency. Add some delaying plugins to the master and the sync problem is back... cheers Kay I think you're still missing ...

Re: automation timing accuracy

The question is, why should this affect offline rendered audio? According to Laura_Live here: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=152423, the automation timing is OK when tracks are flattened first. What's the functional difference between flattening and rendering? There shouldn't be any.....

Re: Does change in buffer size really effect the rendered output

Hi laura_live, hi ableton guys, I know the reason: Because you are using an external vst plugin as soundsource (your synth), it will create a delay. Question is how much? Well, it depends on your plugin settings. Check what you have selected in options > preferences > cpu If it says "as audio buffer...
