I didn't say it was a bug, it just seems like they missed the boat a little. They've figured out how to implement basic video, but they only put it in the half of the program that's designed for desk use. It's a move to make Live behave more like other DAWs. My favorite Live features are things tha...

not if you are new to Live... I also just purchased Live5 about 1 month ago... so it goes, but if they offer a reduced price I wont turn it down!

actually. in Live 6 you can select multiple tracks and resize them together. its pretty neat. Are there lots of other small changes? How about follow actions? With Sampler, how is it for editing a sample? ease of use with loop points, 0xing, crossfading etc. Can it resample itself somehow? btw, tha...

Screenshot #5 Adam, thanks. Do you have any numbers as to how much CPU video playback takes? hard to say, as it doesn't really effect Live's audio engine cpu meter. and i think its mostly dependent on the GPU. can't say right now, may have to wait till the Beta or Demo are available. yeah, seems li...

I think perhaps teh people who were on the alpha may have their perception a little skewed by their proximity to it. I'm sure Sampler is fantastic, I'm sure it's all innovative and lovely. but so that you can see why I am not all fizzy with emotion over it man, i think you'd have a reason to be ann...

Sampler $200 Instrument Library $100 that is $300... a lot of money for a sampler with a small gui and many pages to go through to edit with and which only works in Live. That is almost the price of Kontakt with its Library. here is one blurb about Sampler "Sampler integrates perfectly with Live. It...

yeah but you're forgetting that sampler allows drag and dropping of samples so you can record a sound in live and then drag it into sampler where as kontakt you would have to record it and render it and then look for it in kontakts browswer. I don't know... I'm kinda a sucker for drag and drop func...

Deep Freeze question

I read what there was about the new freeze. Sounds good. My question is this. I have a midi track and I freeze it. I can then put automation on it, copy it, cut it etc. What happens then if I unfreeze it? Can I make a small edit to a midi note and then re-freeze and all the automation, cuts etc woul...

Lots of people already have samplers

Attractive... so what

Intuitive? Kontakt could be more intuitive, but it aint bad. At this point as a 2.1 it is fairly solid piece of software

Sampler may be able to import samples, but I would lose all my instruments and combinations.

Hi Adam, What about the dual core support, how is it on your macbook pro ? Thanks great here are some numbers: Live 5 - 40% on performance test, without the .kext fix (see performance test thread) Live 5 - 30% on performance test, WITH .kext fix Live 6 Alpha - 25% without the fix Live 6 Alpha - 18%...

yes, but lots of people already have such tools. They are going to have to show some serious reason why Kontakt owners should get Sampler. Add in the cost of the instrument library and Sampler is not much less than buying Kontakt. That is one serious piece of software they are competing against.

the multi-processor support means I am getting 6 no matter what.

Since I recently bought Kontakt I doubt I will buy Sampler for that sort of money.

I purchased Kontakt for a pile of money just 6 months ago. If you add in the extra cost of the boxed version to get the instrument library, getting Sampler is close around $300... that is another pile of cash to pay for something that duplicates what I already have. Maybe Ableton can offer a crossgr...

Depends on your definition of innovative, I'd say. The racks and macro controls are an awesome addition; racks are like having loads of simple building blocks from which you can build a huge LEGO castle. The Macro controls are like a 100% customisable way to morph between two sounds (a la Reaktor's...
