Re: How old are you?

The trend would be 30's, makes sense really. people in their 20's and below are too busy trying to become famous, and most people like me in their 40's and above have given up on music for various reasons. Some guy posted a while ago his music with a few Live questions who was in his 80's that was ...

Anyone have expierience with User Config MIDI script?

Hey all, So I'm trying to control perameters in Reason via macros in ableton, this video gives a quick rundown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmW-bBqt_9Y - I am going into my app data folder-->roaming-->ableton-->version-->preferences--->user remote scrips-->Thor. I created the thor folder, and cop...

editing MIDI velocity on external synthesizers

Hey all, I have a question regarding velocity perameters when I am controlling an external synth in ableton. I use reason as a slave along with my microkorg, and as far as normal note data I have no problems. But I cannot seem to figure out how to get my external synths to respond to velocity perame...

Setting volume levels proportionally?

I'm going through a mix down now. Naturally my master is at 0db, and I'm keeping everything at about talking volume so all of my instrument tracks are much lower than I would want them for my final master. If I like their relative levels, is there any way to select all of the volume faders so that I...

Re: Your best tips for learning how to mix and master

I'm definitely going to download that video as soon as I finish studying, and I've never really thought of A/Bing, but that makes a lot of sense. I guess I've always felt intimidated by 'professional' mixes but I feel like that bridge is really being gapped (the ableton community being a testament)....

Your best tips for learning how to mix and master

Hey everybody, I've decided that I need to take a break from writing, and really invest some time in learning mixing technique and mastering technique. This is something that I am an ameture at, but I'm sure that some of you guys (or girls) out there know how to get some really impressive results. S...

Re: How to control hardware synths with MIDI

Right now, my problem is this: I have ableton routed out of my pc via usb interface into my monitors. When i play my synth, it 'records' data on my MIDI chanel. but when I play it back I can only hear it from my synths headphone jack. I'm not really sure what I need to do in order to be ableton to u...

How to control hardware synths with MIDI

Hey all, So I'm trying to figure out how I can control my Korg R3 hardware synth via my midi controller/piano roll. I still want to be able to mess wtih the parameters on the R3, so I know this is going to involve MIDI in/out. how should I go about this? and do I still need to connect audio cables t...

So that we start off on the same page, do you have any examples? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3mFLiiNDMQ And as much as I hate to say it... Bassnectar. A Dedicated Post on Synth Layering

Hey everyone; so Its become clear to me that its almost impossible to get rich, thick, distorted bass tones without setting apart some time to layer a handful of synths on top of another, and mix them together. This is easier said than done, luckily I'm sure that a lot of you all are experts on the to...

programming and mixing deep bassy synths

Hey guys, so I'm really at a crossroads here with getting some of the sounds in my head onto my synths. I use an R3 and a Microkorg (both hardware). I've done plenty of messing around with filters/LFO's and other modulators, but I just feel like the result is too "thin". I've pinpointed two possibil...
