Re: Why do clips start at 1 instead of 0?

Very interesting discussion. Just to add to it, or perhaps mess it up, haha, things are slightly more complex in music notation than discussed. Not all music starts with a full bar/measure. Therefore, a bar/measure is only annotated as "1" if it is a full bar/measure. If a piece of music starts wit...

Re: Why do clips start at 1 instead of 0?

the thing is, when counting in natural numbers, we add to the count when we have another complete item/object. when i have no oranges, i have zero oranges. i have one orange when i have the whole object in my hand. if you are doing push-ups, you count one after the first push-up, not before. simila...

Re: Clicks on all tracks during tempo change

I may not have explained this problem correctly. I'm not using any audio files, it's all MIDI. This doesn't matter as audio is audio. You can record the master with re-sampling to a new audio track and look at the waveform at those intersections for abrupt changes. Also you can turn off track by tr...

Re: Why do clips start at 1 instead of 0?

Maybe. But I have almost never heard anyone refer to the first minute as "minute zero". When did you hear this last? In a discipline where this is relevant just as within programming, yes, but in everyday language? I don't see it. another red herring! have a look at arrangement view. bar 1 is physi...

Re: Why do clips start at 1 instead of 0?

Normal people count from 1. Only computers (and programmers) count from 0. nah. i think that's a red herring in this case. i can understand why someone not familiar with music notation might ask why the first bar doesn't start at zero, like time does. Maybe. But I have almost never heard anyone ref...

Re: Undo/Immediate rerecord

It's a feature request...api only reflects the core system. I guess the question is...could that type of function be cobbled out if current api features or is it so intrinsic ie such a natural part of a live looping process that it deserves core functionality.. I think it should be a core feature. ...

Re: Clicks on all tracks during tempo change

I've eliminated all of my plugins, and don't have any audio with warp markers over the break, so I think it's the main audio engine making a click. Does anyone know how to fix this? Have you actually looked at the waveform? Usually clicks come from going from a non-zero amplitude to a value a long ...

Re: separate midi channels

Hey! Say Ive got a single midi file containing different parts on a bunch of different midi channels. How can I extract each channel to a separate clip? If you drag this file into Live it will split the multichannel type 0 MIDI into separate clips in existing tracks or make new ones if necessary. I...

Re: Multi-Channel MIDI Recording and MIDI File Import into Clips

… the new logic for the MCM clips *would be* multi-channel aware at recording and playback time (that's the point!). A basic goal here would be to allow a Type1 MIDI file to be loaded directly into a single MCM clip. So you want support for Type 0 MIDI clips in Live? Which implicitly means a new tr...

Re: Scene Launch BPM trick not working. *Time sensitive*

I've got a batch of backing tracks setup for my friends band. Each is placed in its own scene and each scene has been renamed with the correct bpm for the track. His band has used this setup successfully for months. Recently, all the tracks will intermittently launch at 120bpm instead of the requir...

Re: Late to the party: MainStage question

So, $30 for a truckload of toys & sounds almost seems to good to be true. You don't need Logic for all that stuff to work? Simply use Rewire and something like Soundflower to use it 'inside' Live? I found this review: Cannot Run Inside Abelton Nov 21, 2017 1 star I would give this 5 stars if it wou...

Re: How 2 show CC changes in their own lane in Arrangement View

The track contains the midi device. It is not itself a midi device. Therefore, it does not have a set of CC values to control. I don't think this makes much sense. Fact is that the MIDI CC, as any contained MIDI events of any kind, is part of the clip no matter if any MIDI "belongs" to a specific d...
