you could open the refill using the refill unpacker. if you're already sharing refills, you don't seem to have a huge problem with breaking "the man's" rules. it's all over bit torrent (never used it myself, though).

I use an AudioFire 12, and I can tell you that the converters on the line are top notch. I did a shootout between the audiofire 12 and an rme fireface 800 and the audiofire 12 came out equal or better in terms of conversion. Echo's failures are all in marketing -- their products are amazing, though.

i have one that i use out and about -- use whatever setting you want. depends on the quality and latceny you are after. live and the firebox have to be set to the same stuff regardless, so just read the manual to both and you'll be fine. there are no "best settings."

no question: gefell UMT70s.

it's all well and good what everyone else is saying, but in the price range you're talking about, the UMT70s takes all.

yeah -- that was what i was doing -- but you lose a bit because of the combi controls. i was taking the mixer from inside the combinator and running each "mic" channel to the hardware interface. i just didnt like losing the combi controls.

rewire reason combi drums so each "mic" has own chan

Hi -- I'm newish, to Reason. I am wanting to rewire the combi reason drum kits patches into live, but I want each "mic" to have its own channel in Live so I can mix it with the rest of the music as if the kits were recorded (eq, verb, etc). I want to retain as much control of the sound coming out of...

I actually prefer the Tascam VL-X5 for the price. They pretty much "it" in the sub-$500 world, and even blow away most sub-$700 speakers. For the price, they are the best deal I've ever seen, by far. Too bad most other things from Tascam are nowhere near this level.
