an SM57 is a mic that should be your first mic, as well as being a mic that will never leave your collection. even if you move onto bigger and better vocal mics, the 57 will still have plenty of uses that will bring you back to it.

the pres on the fireface's are weak -- that goes for 400 and 800. you are much better off getting something like the echo audiofire 12 (which is half the price but equal d/a) and buying pres on their own.

aside from the fact that they are quad, the internal bus is significantly faster as well. But I'm using a macbook pro, and this machine feels pretty smoking. I feel like the dual core 2.33 mghz iMac is the way to go given its price point. If you buy the quad you still have to get a monitor (if you ...

it's cute and all, but to spec out the 24" iMac costs $3000 -- for that price i'd just get a quad core mac pro with a dell monitor.

agreed. i'm 100% happy with how they are handling the beta process, and just hope they continue like this and dont rush to meet any artificial deadlines -- i'd rather wait and have a product that is as bug-free as possible.

this is second and, but i have a friend who recently a/b-ed these and he told me that it's not even close -- that the ultralite should be compared to a firebox or a saffire, but that it's not even in the same league as the ff400.

PreSonus Eureka vs Drawmer MX60?

there is a $200 price difference here, but is it reflected in the quality? I'm debating a pre, and it's coming down to these two. Either way, they will be going through a Firebox for now. Thoughts?
