I guess I could change my mind later... but I already want it.
I know... I'm sucker for controllers.
by the leds on the right, I'd also go with a DJesque controller
when should it to be revealed? on Friday?

Re: When you are watching tutorials what do you do?
I pretty much do as agent314. the only difference is that I keep Live open and navigate through the menus and settings as the tutorial does. I don't actually "do" what the tutorial shows as I watch it tho, just navigate to the same spots, so that I can train my mind to easily find the stuf...

I've read the worst stories about the Korg Nano first edition... anyway they have these out now: http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=596 they might be built better? if you intend to play a keyboard just forget the Korg Nano one (whichever edition) and get a real keyboard. for example: http://www.kor...

look for websites that sell customized / assembled laptops. there are some that make them for specifically for music production.
they aren't so hard to find nowadays

in the Live MIDI configuration section, did you set Takeover Mode to Value Scaling? if not, try and it should fix the problem

Re: Land of Confusion - NEWBIE ALERT
APC40 + any random keyboard-only MIDI controller is all you need really. 3 octaves should be fine unless you plan to play intricate pieces of music
I'd maybe add a drum pad controller, the one made by Korg seems to have the best pads
I guess you can easily find everything used for not very much

Re: MPK25 encoders works like potentiometers in takeover mode :/
update... looking into the software editor, I've found that the encoders CAN be switched to incremental/decremental instead that sending out absolute values from 0 to 127. the problem is that configuring it might not be so simple... you need to change the encoders configuration to "NRPN", ...

Re: MPK25 encoders works like potentiometers in takeover mode :/
the way they work is that they aren't actually endless encoders in my opinion, because they DO send values from 0 to 127. I've written to AKAI to see if there is a way to change that maybe fiddling about with the keyboard settings but I doubt it. anyway, since they mechanically turn endlessly, if yo...

Re: MPK25 encoders works like potentiometers in takeover mode :/
I've just tried and the only way to make 'em work correctly is to set Takeover Mode to Value Scaling. if you set it to None, the value will "jump" from the value on screen to the value of the encoder. I still don't get why the encoders of the APC40 are perfectly alligned with the value on ...

Re: Thermin users.. Need some info..
exactly. the left hand stays near the antenna just to lower or completely shut the volume.
in some models you can set the max output, the type of wave (sine or square) and the tone.

Re: MPK25 encoders works like potentiometers in takeover mode :/
thank you, I'm trying it as soon as I get home. as a matter of fact I've lurked the forum a bit and I've seen others suggesting almost the same thing (set Takeover Mode, not to none, but to scaled). my question now is... why the APC40 works as it should (the encoders are always at the exact value an...
