The earlier releases were much more revolutionary in terms of features. Wouldn't quite agree here. M4L is comparable inclusion to that of VSTi. What comes to upgrade prices I don't have comment on them (who ever asked for it anyway). Wait ... M4L is included in the upgrade from 7 to 8 for $189???? ...

Use both! I've been using Live since version 1 and Cubase from VST3.5 through SX4. I moved to a Mac and Logic8 several months ago but my workflow is still the same. All tracks start in Live. Once I'm happy with the arrangement I'll bounce everything down and import into Logic and do the final editin...
