Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Bought one yesterday. I'll let you know how it goes!
After all my propaganda (honestly not intended as such) I sure hope you like it! :)

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Very good review! I wish you were writing about all the products I research! For me though, not enough buttons . . . need more buttons . . . must have buttons . . . Mmmmm, buttons . . . Then buy two! ;) Or maybe look into the larger "shortboard" version. Glad you're getting the better of your agida...

Re: Mac just as good as any other PC when run windows 7 on it ?

Just curious, as I've considered "recommissioning" my wife's MacBook Pro a couple of times: Are there any hangups on account of the Mac keyboard layout, e.g. backspace vs. delete key etc, when running Windows and Windows apps on the Mac hardware?

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Well theres some more info now, and mbenigni I know exactly what you mean about the worries of mechanical complexity when playing Live live. That is the one factor that has kept me nervous about computers in bars. But, thankfully the shows I have played thus far have not had any hardware snafus . ....

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

That FBV Shortboard MkII looks sweet. I Like the USB !! I wonder how programmable each of those pedals are. Will look into it when I get more google-net time. If it's anything like the FBV Express MkII, wicked programmable. Everything from CC's to notes, to mackie control to sustain... but you do n...

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Everything you wanted to know about A-PAC (and more) here: http://www.ultimarc.com/a-pac.html What you've written yourself pretty much sums it up. Ultimarc caters primarily to guys building arcade cabinets for emulators and the like. It's always been a bit of a stretch for musicians to apply this te...

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

mbenigni: wow, nice job, very clean (i won't show you mine's gutts ... grotesque). Indeed too bad for the exp. pedals being photo-voltaic, but hey, you did very well apparently. Regardless the cost, the hours spent on it seem worth it ! Yeah, once I decided on using the newer part for the continuou...

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

I had a similar project to xuoham's a few years back:

... but actually I like his feature set better. I absolutely needed the expression pedals, but the knobs/switch banks on his are very cool.

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

This is mostly unrelated and got longer than I intended. Don't read unless you feel like indulging me. :) Funny FCB-related story: Something like 7 years ago, I used to use one as a floorboard controlling a POD and a couple of other MIDI rack devices. One night I made the BIG mistake of changing my ...

Re: FCB1010 midi to USB

Bear in mind that, even once you've addressed the MIDI to USB conversion (easy enough), you still have to provide power to the FCB. That's what ultimately turned me off on it - that and the fact that it weighs a metric ton. None of this is bad if it's part of a set and forget installation, but if yo...

Re: Is Looper working for you?

Voted "Gave up trying, using hardware for live looping", but that's not quite accurate. I actually gave up - despite Looper finally working "as advertised" - and began using Guitar Rig Loop Machine. There are two limitations that make Looper kind of a wash for me: 1. There's no auto-start option, wh...

Re: Audio Trigger for Looper

A year late to the party, but I find myself wishing Ableton would just add this as a feature to the Looper. I've just started recording drum loops with the thing, and 9 times out of 10 I want my right foot on the kick drum pedal (left foot is on the high hat pedal) as opposed to my floorboard, so tr...

Re: 15 yrs of dig. audio, pops & crackles still driving me nuts

Thanks casiblake. I'm guessing you mean a buffer size of 128 samples, which believe it or not, is actually the smallest buffer I've tried. And, yes, I've had Aero turned off for some time, all settings optimized performance, etc. I'll visit SoS, but I'm not looking forward to starting this discussio...

(Have any of you seen the movie, "Office Space", where they take a printer out in a field and smash it to bits in frustration? I'm getting very close to this point.)
