Thanks for the post, Landwhale. Saves me some time. (And 5 bucks!)

Re: ableton dual monitor support = clip grid on ipad?

That's very cool, even if only for VST interfaces. I might have to spend the $4.99 and give it a shot.

Re: Your favourite books about music....????

For anyone who's ever lost their way, I recommend, Practicing: A Musicians Return to Music . This book was a life saver for me last year, when I was completely tripped up in why I was playing, how I should proceed, what potential I'd wasted, and all that baggage. http://www.amazon.com/Practicing-Mus...

Lots of crashes. ;) Seriously, Reaktor is amazing, but sometimes it's good to be late to the party. You have the benefit of years of patches, and the emergence of hardware that can actually run the thing reliably.

Re: Create a hold pedal by filtering Note Off's?

Can you not just assign the sustain of the vst's adsr to the pedal?
I imagine this will vary from VST to VST, but it is the most straightforward recommendation. Thanks, I'll begin experimenting w/ this tonight!

Create a hold pedal by filtering Note Off's?

Hi all, This is probably a really basic question that I'm overthinking, but since I don't generally use keyboards w/ Live I'm a little out of my element. Basically, I'm using a guitar to trigger MIDI VST instruments and a hold pedal would be extremely useful. I can't see any obvious way to set this ...

Want to connect a hardware device to Live that doesn't use MIDI?
You had me at "hello".

Re: Live 8 crashing constantly under Windows 7 RC 64-Bit

@nicktem, no, not a cracked copy. Live 8 is legit, and Windows 7 is a release candidate available through an MSDN subscription. To be honest, I haven't even tried the Audio Kontrol 1 yet, since NI has flatly stated no driver support since XP. Those guys aren't even trying LOL. The whole reason I bou...

Re: Live 8 crashing constantly under Windows 7 RC 64-Bit

bouke, that's great! When you say you're running Windows 7, do you mean 32- or 64-bit? And what revision? Probably more important - what audio interface are you running? It sounds like my problem is with audio drivers vs. Windows 7, rather than Live vs. Windows 7. I've got a Presonus Firepod, a Mack...

Re: Live 8 crashing constantly under Windows 7 RC 64-Bit

Bump.

I've gotta say, Live has been borderline useless for me for months now. Support for Vista 64 was nil, and now Windows 7 64-bit is looking even worse. Why is no one talking about this?

Re: Dragging individual layers out of Looper

All good food for thought. I'm sure the alternate methods work, but they all comprimise the elegance of the Looper itself. Obviously this isn't a deal breaker either way, I was just hoping to streamline a bit. (Bomes and the like are a perfect example of what I'm trying to get away from at this poin...

Re: Dragging individual layers out of Looper

If it was never possible, then apologies, I must have misread one of the comments in the Beta forum. "I don't see why people don't just drag each layer out as they do them. or use Looper to set the tempo etc and then just record into clip slots with your foot controller." Yes there are a lot of alte...

Dragging individual layers out of Looper

Apologies in advance - I know that this was discussed in the Beta forum, if not more recently, but I can't seem to determine how things finally panned out. I'm wondering if it's possible to drag individual layers from the Looper into clips, rather than the entire Looper mix. Since there's an undo hi...

Re: I need a name. But I dont want to just make one up.

Thanks guys. For some reason these are cheering me up (Just got into a wreck today :(] But the good and silly names are making me feel better... Its actually odd really. Not so odd. Everyone knows it's more fun to name a band than to actually be in one. Well, everyone who's been in a band anyway. :...
