Need drum theory and programming tutorials

Just got into Ableton Live and beat making in general, I´m coming to grips with the program and can see the awesome potential for beat creation. I´d dabbled in a bunch of other music programs before but Live really brings it all together. Now I just need to learn how to make good beats  I´m to...

Thx for the replys ppl. I am using the M audio oxygen 8 (older model) which is a usb midi controller/keyboard, as U had mentioned. So once I drop the slices in the slots of the impulse I can just use my keyboard (not surfaces) to play the pieces? hey guys also, I noticed that (as far as I can see, ...

Why on earth Ableton has not made a special class of clips that work like dummy clips specifically for the send channels I do not know.

The screen space is there and it´s just being wasted.

You have to drag an EQ effect to the channel - there are no hardwired EQ's on the channel strips themselves.

EQ3 is a DJ-type effect, while EQ4 sound better, but is also more CPU hungry.

This thread rocks more than anything. I just downloaded dblue glitch and combined with this thread, my day will now be spent in front of the computer. From a total newb to music-making, from the bottom of my heart - thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of advice someone addicted to beats like...

I´d try to get a pitch-to-midi plugin, then use the resulting midi file to drive a synth bass. You might be able to do this live....

Dunno though, don´t play guitar and have never tried it.

This scheme is awesome.....excellent job PhatConductor I´ve been thinking about buying a control surface of some kind for quite some time, but unable to choose between all the different options. The Trigger Finger just shot up to the top of my list :D If M-Audio aren´t paying you, they should be. An...

"So whatever you choose to do, do not close the lid and do not let it go to sleep." Hmm...but what if you have to take your computer offstage? Of course, your comp may not respond in the same way as mine, but if it does, I suggest just unplugging it and letting it run on batteries for awhile, and p...

On my comp, Live doesn't allow it to sleep. It's a little bit dangerous because if I close the lid the computer keeps running "awake", which makes it a fair bit hotter than is healthy for the screen in such close proximity, plus the battery runs out on you quickly. When I open it again Live(or the O...
