Re: MIDI Mappaing and Note Control with APC 40

the apc is a native control surface for live. ever recognized a blue hand symbol in the title bar of your effect racks? this hand displays that the device is currently under control of the device control encoders. my suggestion: delete your whole midi mappings and just watch out for the blue hand (i...

Re: Modular Synth Beginner

Yeach, check a small modular softy like u-he ACE, you will get the idea of how is to work with a modular. Good idea, but keep in mind: -ACE is a semimodular synth -it will work without connecting modules with patch cables -ACE is still a softsynth: You can store presets, you have polyphony and you ...

Re: Dynamically change "MIDI To"

could you not acheive the same effect by setting MIDI From on the tracks with the instruments (to come from the chord track) and setting monitor to auto? yes. that was the first thing I thaught, when I read the description by the TO. That´s by far the most simple way to solve that prob. I myself ha...

nanopad 2 doesn´t show up in my midi ports list

Hi everybody, i just purchased a nanopad 2. I hooked it up to my computer and tried to install the driver software. Driver installs. firmware updater says "no device found". kontrol editor installs. live doesn´t show the padkontrol in my midi ports list. windows device manager says padkontrol works ...

Re: when did you last "play a solo"

-just stopped my solo to post here... 8) no joke, what I miss about most current music is good solo parts and musicians getting nuts on playing their instruments. I guess this has a lot to do with the incorporation of electronic elements in a bad manner aka letting a laptop play a backing track whic...

Re: So - what are your top 8 macros for a synth?

my favourite macros are those which are linked to dozens of parameters in different ranges. sometimes i have mapped about 10 parameters to 1 macro Thats the real fun  yeah that´s cool. and useful too, for example if some modulation causes a big gain increase, you can add an utility right at th...

Re: So - what are your top 8 macros for a synth?

I first create a patch and then assign parameters to macros which make sense and which I´d like to alter on the fly. I don´t think it makes sense doing it the other way around and first assign macros and then create the patch. for example for an organ-style sound you typically have attack and decay ...

Re: Different octaves trigger different instruments

when you open up the chain view of your rack (where you also can find the button "chain" that shows you the chain selector) there´s also a "key"-button. press it and then you can edit the keyzones for every instrument chain.

Re: Loading presets vs loading instruments.

I find this to be too stressful on load times and CPU in reguards to 3rd party plugs. Also this will dramatically slow down editing midi clips in Arrrange view and session, pending on how many instances of a plug you nest in chains. Even with native Ableton plugs like operator, this idea slows down...

Re: Loading presets vs loading instruments.

It's really not, I just broke it down step by step, stupid simple. Once you start getting it everything will make since. ...and to take that idea further: since you said you want to use the mouse as little as possible, you cando the following: after you created all your massive racks and stored the...

Re: Question regarding mic recording of percs...

Is your mic a stereo mic? I suppose not. If you route a mono signal into a stereo input one channel will receive this signal (in your case the left channel), the other one won´t receive anything.
