Re: Way to save a Looper preset that contains midi map data?

...not directly a dedicated looper-preset, but you could create a live template with a track with a looper in it and the desired midi mappings. this way the looper will already be there and be mapped anytime you open a new set.

Re: Where is the option for record track selection?

Most of your many questions have answers in the Live manual, which you can get by looking in the Help menu. This one is easy: In Preferences, on the "Record Warp Launch" tab, there is an option called "Exclusive" with two buttons, "Arm" and "Solo." When these buttons are *on* a single click will ca...

Re: Good feeling of keyboard

thanks is it similar to the touch of novation? i couldnt find keystation anywhere. sorry, I just saw that there is no 49key version of the keystation available (only 61 and 88 keys). I googled keystation 49 and got a load of results but after a closer look all those keystation 49es were actually ke...

Re: lock record arm on certain tracks -possible?

Not exactly. If you keep the first arm button you push pressed down then all the other arm buttons will act like toggles. So; say you want to arm tracks 1, 3 and 7. You press the arm button of track one with your left hand and keep it pressed. Then easily (as slow or fast as you want) press the arm...

lock record arm on certain tracks -possible?

ok, I have a session with lots of internal midi routing from one track to another. meanwhile I have to record-arm/disarm other tracks not involved in this routing-mess. anytime I hit a record arm all the armed tracks that receive midi from other tracks are disarmed because I armed another track resu...

Re: Good feeling of keyboard

M-Audio Keyrig feels totally crappy. I don´t know about the others you have mentioned, but I would suggest the M-Audio Keystation. It feels good to me. but you should be aware that it hasn´t got aftertouch and it´s a little beyond your pricerange (but not too much).

Re: Abelton Live Lite + MIDI keyboard vs. a dedicated Digital P

-- decent sounds that are responsive to playing dynamics -- I think the true limitation concerning dynamics could be the keyboard. midi keyboard wise there´s a lot of crap out there. if you really are only interested in playing piano it´s maybe better to invest in a fully weighted piano style keybo...

Re: Fading multiple clips?

four approaches to solve your problem, decide which one works best for you: 1. you can move several clips at a time by using a midi controller. 2. hold shift, while selecting the track title bars. this way you can select several clips at a time. moving a fader of one of the selected tracks will move...

Re: Grouping vs routing

the advantage of grouping is that you can "hide" the grouped tracks in the group track. that keeps your set more tidy -at least visually 8)

Re: Clip envelopes:pitch bend values in semitones

Right, but once the range is set the midi values should scale the pitch values linearly over that range, right? yes I think so. Maybe someone could create a chart with all pitch-bend ranges and the corresponding midi values to every semitone increment/decrement in every pitch-bend range. I myself a...

Re: Clip envelopes:pitch bend values in semitones

The pitch-bend values are the midi values a pitch-bend wheel usually sends. They are just values and do not correspond to a certain pitch or amount of change in pitch. On most VSTi`s you can adjust the pitchbend range. kinda common is two semitones or an octaphe, but you can dial in any value you wa...

Re: Fading out a sample: possible w/in Ableton or use external?

Clip envelopes. doghouse means: " 1.drag your sample into a session view slot. 2.apply a volume clip envelope in your desired fashion to the clip 3.now record that clip into a newly created audio track 4.drag the recorded result (aka the new clip with your recorded volume automation) into sampler."

does anybody already have an akai max 49 here?

I´m pretty curious about it. Main questions for me would be: -Has the hardware the usual good feel of akai stuff? -How are the keys, the faders, the pads? -How well does it integrate into live, since I think there is no control surface script for the max 49 integrated into live, yet? -How is that ak...

Re: Complex rhythmical textures

yes can someone elaborate on how to route the sequencer to the start time/simpler or sampler? sorry, i can`t. But I have another solution: insert your sample into session view and duplicate it several times into slots on the same track and change the start points on all of them ( maybe with grid di...

Re: Getting past the 3 minute mark/writers block

My best work comes in one day, not over a span of a week. If I can't finish it in one or two days I'll set it aside for a later time. Also, when I say finish, I mean the arrangement. The actual mixing is a whole nother story. for me it takes weeks to finish a track, but I dont work only at one at a...
