Re: Surface Pro 4 - Push 2 (And interface)

Push should have basically no hit to the performance of your SP4. Given the existence of recent discussions like Push2DisplayProcess what are you basing that on? No hit? The i5s in the Surface Pro 4s are duo-core processors. Even if they are 6th Gen. My apologies, I wasn't aware of this. That would...

Re: Surface Pro 4 - Push 2 (And interface)

Your SP4 is just like any other similarly spec'd computer. It should run Live fantastically. If you are going to be doing any serious work on it, you might want to get the Surface Dock, or at least a powered hub, if you don't care about external displays. Push will eat up the one USB port you have. ...

Re: How to reduce sample rate in sampler?

Probably too late, but if you double ("*2" button) the tempo twice with the 192 kHz sample, then swap to the lower sample, it may give you the warp markers where you want them. This may not work at all, I don't have different sample rate files to mess with. I also may have screwed up the math, you m...

Re: WINDOWS 10 & ABLETON, ROMEO & JULIETTE.

I used to have a (good at the time) laptop that would give me crackles and pops intermittently. I ended up downloading a troubleshooting tool that helped me figure out that the issue was my wireless network adapter. With it disabled, everything was golden. It was unfortunate that I needed to remembe...

Re: All around question regarding track.

My amateur opinion is that the instruments and vocals are each given good placement in the frequency spectrum and are well-mixed. I'm assuming that there is a fair bit of compression on the whole mix, but it didn't sound overly compressed... However, the kick drum is heavily compressed and I'm sure ...

Re: Which Audio Interface do you use? How do you like it?

I have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20. I was in your same price range, though I haven't given up the hope that someday it will be more than just a hobby. :/ I like it a lot. I had read up on audio interfaces before making my purchase and read that Focusrite is known for having great mic preamps for the ...

Why is this a "secret"? Does Ableton actually want me to use Kontakt?

Thanks for the tip.

Re: Velocity of kicks

I think it mostly depends on the timbre and volume. Sometimes a higher velocity hit is mapped to a more aggressively hit sample. In these cases, it depends on what sound you want. Maybe you want the sound of the soft hit, but louder. Then low velocity with a compressor to boost gain.
