Have you considered something like one of these: http://www.guitarcenter.com/shop/product/Alesis-ControlPad-USB-MIDI-Percussion-Pad-Controller?full_sku=449753 I didn't even realize this was out yet. I was interested in this when I first heard about it. It's a bit more for actual drummers, I'd think...

I'm pretty sure it doesn't come mapped properly to work with impulse and many other drum samplers. To use it with impulse you have to map it to: C3 D3 E3 F3 G3 A3 B3 C4 I think that'd be notes no.: 60 62 64 65 67 69 71 72 Remember, I haven't even gotten Live to see the MPD yet, so the pad mapping i...

Controllers for drumming

I've purchased the Novation Remote Zero SL and the Akai MPD24 with the intention of having something more "drum-like" to enter percussion parts with. The Zero SL is useless for this; the pads are way too small, not particularly well placed, and they require a hammer to get them to even tri...

A note: I just tried to order, it not being 31 Jan yet, and the price was $99.

MPD24: Setup in Live

Anyone know how to get Live to see the MPD24? I'm running 6.0.1 on WinXP; there's no mention of the MPD in the Live control surface list and there aren't supposed to be any drivers necessary.

Good work, everybody! It's always fascinating to see how different people fashion the same set of working materials. My vote goes to Pale1's Fallout. I love what you can do with Live, but I liked this piece because it sounds less "typical" of what you'd expect from a piece done in Live. I ...

Thanks, guys. I have the ZSL and just ordered the BCR, simply because it was so inexpensive (less than half the price of the ZSL). I'll have to think about whether to go ahead with the order or not (currently backordered).

To be honest, I've heard much worse from people who seemed to be trying much harder. As a piece, it's got potential; if you cleaned up the execution and did more on the production end--if you worked with it more, I'm sure a reasonable piece of music would emerge. How much can you accomplish in 15 mi...

Remote Zero SL or BCR2000 (or both)?

Of those of you who've tried them both, which do you prefer? (This includes what they claim to do versus what the actuality is, ie the ZSL's inoperative tap tempo button, etc)

I'm also kind of surprised that Live doesn't have something like AcidPlanet. The Live community seems huge, but some of the kinds of organized community extensions that exist for other products haven't developed for Live. A centralized place for rack, etc sharing--the User Library suggested above--a...

Re: Another Remote SL question (OS2)

Does not work. According to sl documentation, it should have work. Neither are there any buttons mapped to solo in AutoMap. Not sure why they have left out so many controls unmapped in the AutoMap template. Yes, solo and mute buttons would have been nice. Oh well, some of it works, which seems to b...

Another Remote SL question (OS2)

Has anyone been able to get the Tap Tempo button to do anything?

(Is there a Novation forum anywhere? (None on their web site.))
