Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?
I been away for a while dudes - is 9.5 a free or paid update from 9 suite?
I looked around the (still) confusing website and I couldn't work out whether it was free or how much it cost!
Cheers

Re: Proudly collecting music gear and software for no purpose
New Sugar Bytes synth - Factory . Demoed it today, and I think it has a lot of potential. I just hate it when I mess around with a demo version and saving is disabled. I've seen demos where you can save your patch, but you can't load it again; this is a much better approach, IMO. What do you guys t...

Re: Synthesizer
I do too - but if your sample has any rhythmic element it will sound odd at different speeds I generally rig up my sampling sessions with a glitch/stutter edit (artillery) plus distortion (ohmicide) plus lots of automation plus my synth and then I record it and load up into Kontakt. If you play it b...

Re: Synthesizer
What's really nice about having a sampler (Kontakt) with such great time stretching is that you can build a sampled instrument of 1 bar, 2 bar hits etc. at say 150bpm and then use it in songs at 180 or 140 bpm - just dial in the time stretch ratio = 150/new tempo

Re: Synthesizer
Max For Live (m4l) does provide the tools to create your own synths but is definitely NOT for the faint hearted - it's pretty hardcore stuff imo

Re: Synthesizer
Sampler doesn't offer time stretch so that's pants. Actually I use racks with Simpler but I don't really consider that an instrument. I certainly do not need time stretch in Sampler — would be nice though — in order to build effective instruments, nor do I need that for drum samples. If I need to ...

I only use operator from the Live Suite - Sampler doesn't offer time stretch so that's pants.

I think Massive is an easy synth to program....

Re: format of samples in Suite Library? Analysis tools ?
quite preposterous really - anyone that really wants to copy the samples will just export them from ableton as .wav - job done and post them on a file sharing site
just limiting the usefulness of the packs - the samples are not THAT good anyway

loading samples from packs into third party applications
I am trying to load up .aif files which I downloaded from Ableton packs into Kontakt (and as a test when this didn't work I tried Audacity) without success. I am sure this used to work, I recently upgraded to windows 10 - could this be causing the problem? I downloaded an .aif file from a non-Ableto...

Re: Have we lost something since we killed "the demo"
I know that Beethoven for instance had bits of unfinished works all over the place he lived in and would recombine them later on. Yeah, but then his kicks really sucked, everyone knows that  Haha - spot on - the Beethoven kick is what let him down - otherwise he'd have been a superstar. And t...

Re: So...anyone attending the moronic Burning Man thing?
but that's the only way musicians get paid now - expensive festivals.
It's shit value but punters seem happy to pay 100 quid to stand in a field watching their idols hit spacebar for 3 or 4 hours.
I wouldn't knock it - it's one of the only ways to make money now for museos!
Cheers

Probably everyone does that - if you don't you're daft.
