Re: Is soundcloud ruined?
Yeah, the app was a major downgrade in my opinion. They essentially removed the ability to learn more about what you are listening to. How does that even make sense?? the iOs app was an utter train wreck! can't comment, can't read/write messages, less caching - the old app was fine - if they just a...

Re: Is soundcloud ruined?
I am all for a way to monetize my music - I have a small record "label" which I put my music and a few other artist's music out on (itunes, beatport etc.) But despite having almost 150k plays on Soundcloud I rarely sell anything - why would anyone buy it when they can stream it or at a push just rec...

Re: Live 9 browser NIGHTMARE !!!
Can anyone explain to me why it is not possible to have 3rd party plugins and Ableton's own in the same folder? Having them separated makes me use Ableton's devices even less. You can if you make instrument racks from them. Make a rack with an operator in it. Make a rack with (for example) massive ...

Re: Operator Vs Analog
But if you load single cycle waveforms into Sampler, then it becomes the same thing as a two oscillator FM or AM synth (counting Samplers oscillator section). (once you go single cycle, pitching up or down shouldn't matter) Free single cycle waveforms are available everywhere, or you can go all out...

Re: Collaboration and rewire
oops - didn't read it properly - advice is kind of similar though
I never understand why people want to use multiple DAWs - you are just asking for trouble imo.

Re: Operator Vs Analog
This method does require large amounts of space from both RAM and HDD to function where as the likes of analogue modeling and FM require only a fraction of this to achieve the same result. Interesting. But let’s say HDD space and computing power is not an issue. Is the realism and “behavior” really...

Re: Mastering in Ableton
IMO, the ONLY thing that defines "mastering" is that you have someone else withn unbiased opinion working on it for you. Otherwise it's all mixing if you ask me. agreed - I do it all in Ableton with a limiter - don't use Ozone or any other maximiser (too many artefacts and muddies the sound imo). j...

Re: Operator Vs Analog
I never use Analog because Operator can do pretty much the same thing as Analog when you switch it into non-fm mode anyway. You can put all 4 operators or waves in parallel (no fm) and then put the filter on. I think you can have a separate filter for each oscillator in Analog but I don't need to us...

Re: Collaboration and rewire
Cubase can't open Ableton projects - not sure if any of the DAWs have the ability to open each other's projects. What you will need to do is save the parts as audio files (or midi files) - these parts are often called stems. It's a pain in the arse doing this - better to collaborate with people that...

Re: Best Cities With Great Music Scenes
age 16-21 I was going to Manchester quite a lot - but I think the scene is not what it used to be with New Order, Factory etc.. It's not so international and it's a small city (less than 1m). London is huge - massive sprawling place with lots of "villages" - quite big places with their own distinct ...
